        Hi,
Do y’all have a safe website that converts youtube videos to MP3/4 ?

        Thanks,
        Tim

You don’t need to convert them Tim, if you use ..saveyoutube.. it gives the option to save the file as either MP4 or HD Mp3

I’ve done a screen shot so you can see what I mean, just copy paste the youtube URL in…

Gentlemen, don’t want to cause alarm, but saveyoutube installs a program called tampermnonkey, it is known to cause problems and can allow programs to take control of certain applications etc…..I wouldn’t use it.

If you want to download from youtube try Free YOutube Downloader https://youtubedownloader.com/ much safer, been using for a while with no issues. Just a heads up..

Or you can use the Mozilla Firefox browser, and then add on the Video Download Helper plug-in. It’s free. So you go to YouTube and find the video you want. Then in your menu bar at the top of the screen there is a little 3-color icon. Click on it and choose the format you want to download. MP4 is always one choice, and you usually have a choice of resolution, like low, medium, and high. It’s very safe.

                  Roberto and Steve,

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded youtubedownloader and after declining all the add on stuff I have used it on one video and it worked fine. I made sure to check my installed programs and I don’t see any other programs that were loaded apart from youtubedownloader so fingers crossed it should be ok.
Steve, thanks for mentioning Firefox, I saw Roberto’s posting first so just grabbed that one so will see how it goes.

                  Thanks for all your help,

                  Tim

Tampermonkey is a google chrome plug in( you will find it on the google store ..HERE.., It is very similar to Greasemonkey plug in for Firefox and both are user script managers. Tampermonkey has no know issues that I know of, but that is not to say that there are no versions of it or of any program which is downloadable which isnt infected one way or another. that is the danger downloading programs from 3rd party websites.
Saveyoutube I have been using for quite some time now without downloading the downloader and without any issues or infections, Each to their own though and if You feel saveyoutube is unsafe then you have every right not to use it.
Thank you for the input Roberto.

Billy, of course to each his own, I do this technology stuff for a living and just looking to make sure people understand the implications.

The fact that something is a google plugin on their google store doesn’t mean they sanction or test it. The intent of the developer may be sound, but the way the software works, accesses every web page you visit, it can allow for others to do things you may not want and wont know they did.

                        Billy,

What I liked about Saveyoutube was that you did not have to download anything for it to work so I guess I’m on the fence as to which site may be best in terms of practicality and safety. YouTube downloader works well as Roberto said but the difference is you do have to do a download.
                        Thanks again,
                        Tim

                            Hi Tim,

Both an all programs that capture youtube video or sound do a download…..that’s how it gets from youtube to your pc. What I think you like is that saveyoutube puts a download button right on the video and then asks what you want to do, while free youtube downloader will automatically paste the address of the video into the program and then they are the same.

The real difference is that with free youtube downloader you click to start the program, in my case I have it on all day and ends up working exactly the same, while saveyoutube is on all the time inside your browser which is why it uses tampermonkey.

                            Good luck

                            Roberto

                            Roberto,

Thanks for the explanation. I have youtube downloader in place so will go with it.

                            Billy,

Thanks so much for your help also.

All the best to you both,

                            Tim

Oh I am sorry Roberto, I didn’t mean to imply that you didnt know what you were talking(writing) about, I was just trying to point out that I have not had any problems using that website to download youtube videos and I have been using it for some time now, and that Tampermonkey is a widely used program..
Anyway, all is fine and dandy if Tim has a reliable downloader that he is happy with.

                              ..Billy..
