Okay I don’t know if John Butler Trio is well known out of Australia so excuse my ignorance but for those that don’t know him, He’s well known in Australia having had some of his songs/instrumentals make the Top 40. He is always at our Blues & Roots Festival at Byron Bay each year. I see on YouTube that he’s been on Letterman, so he may have more International exposure than I realize.
This instrumental may not be “Your cup of Tea”, but you have to appreciate his ability. He grew up in Australia, but I believe he was born in America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdYJf_ybyVo
Another of our better guitarists is Smokin’ Joe Robinson (I hate this Kid LOL): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yQoa7X1F9w
Next is Michael Fix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z42Us-1PPBg
And I’m sure everyone knows about Tommy Emmanuel by now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkKcd51QCiEEnjoy & let’s know your thoughts.

Hey Mike’
Thanks for posting these links. I , for one have never heard of these guys , with the exception of Tomy Emmanuel. I was floored by John Butler ! I watched 2 more of his you tube clips, they were great! I also watched Smokin Joe playing “I’ll See You In My Dreams”, with Tommy Emmanuel….fantastic. Michael Fix , what can I say, I love fingerstyle players. As far as ‘ Not your cup of tea”, I would like to believe that anyone who loves guitar has got to love great guitar players , no matter what style. Here’s a link to one of my favorite fingerstyle players, and from what i’ve read ,self taught,… Don Adler.Hope you enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8HJwTX9LXU
Thanks again Peace , Josh -

Hey Josh,
Glad you liked them & thanks for the link. I really enjoyed it. He’s a fine player. One thing I noticed is that nearly all of the players of this style snap the strings in a simulated snare drum snap. It’s really affective. I do agree to a point that I appreciate watching anyone who plays well, but to be honest, I can only take so much of players of the likes of Steve Vai. I know he’s technically brilliant & can play extremely fast, but I just find that it leaves me cold, his music lacks any real feeling. But that’s just me & apologies to anyone who’s a fan or to you Steve if you read this. Peter Green in his hey day is my kind of guitar hero.
