In the Grand Ole Opry, Vince Gill presented his new song “The whole world”, as can be seen on youtube. Unfortunately, the lyrics for this song are not (yet) to be found anywhere and for “Non-American Native Speakers” the verses are not clearly understandable.
I would love to play this song at an event on the weekend. Can an “American” possibly help me and write down the two verses here??? A really heartfelt song with an also heartfelt guitar solo. Such a simple song as an absolute masterpiece!!
Thank you very muchFrank from “Good ol Germany”

Frank, I hadn’t heard the song before…it’s a wonderful song with brilliant lyrics!
Feels like the whole world
Has got a broken heart
Sure could use
A brand new start
How the hell did we wind up
So far apart
Feels like the whole world
Has got a broken heartEllis Island
Trail of tears
A civil war
The Jim Crow years
Somehow survivin’
But still building walls
Sweet forgiveness
Is gonna save us all{Chorus}
Love and kindness
Is the only way
To put the past behind us
That was yesterday
I’ll never hate you
If we disagree
‘Cause brother you’re breathin’
The same air as me{Chorus}
{Chorus}
{Chorus}
Joe
The sight of a touch, or the scent of a sound,
Or the strength of an Oak with roots deep in the ground.

Thanks, Frank. Not a genre I listen to often but a very beautiful and timely song I would have missed.
Good luck with your rendition.

I’ve never heard of the song or the singer, probably because it’s aimed at American listeners. But the lyrics are very cool, so now I’m going to listen to the song.

Best of luck with this traditional melody Frank. This style is not generally on my playlist but I do have a great deal of respect for Vince Gill’s talent as a player.

I have no idea who the young guitarist is playing this solo, but you might think he’s been to Brian’s Lessons several times as well.
Cheers to translation programs.

What a beautiful song. Thanks for writing down the lyrics. Vince Gill is probably one of the most celebrated country singer / player, and is definitely one of my favorite musician.
The song also reminds me of an earlier Vince Gill song “Go Rest High”. Both are just I, IV, and V progression yet they created really beautiful melody, and says a whole lot with what seems like very simple progression.
