Been working on arranging this, and it’s the first day of summer, so I figured it’s a good time to post it. Hope you like.

When you said you were working through the arrangement, you weren’t kidding. That was a lot of work.

Duffy, that was terrific, a gorgeous Gershwin melody played beautifully. In terms of playing guitar, you included everything, chords, melody, slides, bends, harmonics, walking baselines, the list goes on. I particularly liked the smooth gentle start, steadily building tempo and volume throughout the piece. Just great …..

Duffy,
That is a beautiful arrangement, congratulations. The bass lines drew me right in. I’m in awe of how many extended, altered, diminished, sus, inverted and add chords you must have used and how you, surely, know what each of every one of them are.

Duffy,
That is just superb! A master class in arrangements and played beautifully. The best solo guitar interpretation of Summertime I’ve heard. Joe Pass couldn’t top that one. Did you study music composition in college? Really enjoyed it!James

Hey Duffy, that was 100% nice! Everything about it was nice, I like hearing that rhythm on the lower strings with the melody on top. You took your time getting there.

Firstly, I like your idea to transpose a George Gershwin piece to guitar. You managed this very well. You kept the original spirit, but made it your own. your playing is superb.

When I heard everything, I said to myself, a great idea was well implemented. You have made your own track out of it. Very pleasant overall package.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Expressing your feelings on someones else’s tune, well, you did it very superbly .
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi Duffy – I just finished viewing this month’s challenge submissions and was getting caught up on some of the forums. I can’t believe I missed this excellent Showcase of yours. This is an amazing arrangement, and so well played — kudos. I especially loved the walking bass lines, but that was only one of many things to like.
