        Dear AMers,

here’s my take on one of my favourites songs of all time. Don’t know why I waited so long to learn this…so much fun! I’ve been at it for the past week and didn’t get to learn the full solo yet (only first bit), few mistakes here and there but I decided to share it anyways 😀
What makes me even happier, is not only I can play this without tabs but that I understand what I play, lot goes to Brian lessons.

Thanks, you got the Mark Knopfler feel and tone, well done.
I loved this tune since the day it came out.

Absolute classic number Enrico, played with some panache which is exactly what’s needed for that piece. Loved your comment about your understanding the number and a salute to Brian. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful, Enrico, and sounds great on the new strat. Seems to me there’s a very difficult lick coming up that has always put me off learning this but now you’ve inspired me.

Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform souls!! (love that line!!)
And, they don’t give a damn ’bout no trumpet playing band. (And I grew up playing trumpet – be nice Mark!)
And, check aht Guitar Geo, he knows all the chords!!!!

Such a Classic choice Enrico!!! That Dm chord progression is in The Hall of Fame!!!
And you went fingerstyle a la Mark K!!! Well done.

Well done, Enrico and nicely played! I think you will get a big response to this one because it is a lead many of us would like to play.

It really does help having Brian’s theory and triad lessons under one’s belt I think.

Wow, Enrico! This is beyond impressive. This is a difficult song and difficult technique to master. I used to do this in a band several years ago and it was quite challenging. Those arpeggios are tricky and you nailed them. I am looking forward to part 2.

Great accomplishment Enrico. You’ve got that Knopfler groove going. The chord voicings are starting to look familiar along with the country style bends. Great execution especially playing it finger style.

Real nice that and a quick learn in only a week! Also playing it and making sense of it rather than just memorising is a huge plus , look forward to the finale, your new strat sounds the part .

I am looking forward to the arpeggi😊.
I wonder is this riff the famous Andalusian chord progression?

I think your comment about Brian’s teaching as it applies to this song is spot on. It’s really cool to see many of the very ideas he talks about show up “in the wild” on this tune.

                                              Great playing on this.

I tried learning it a while back and only got as far as you did before I realised I wasn’t doing that fast lick in the solo anytime soon.

I really hope you nail it and post part 2!
