Slabo Day was written by Peter Green in the late 1970s. It’s an elegantly simple study in phrasing. Anyone can make the 2-chord jamtrack on a DAW or a looper, and just start noodling along until the cows come home. Just play the two chords – Am and F – on the 4 middle strings. Keep your index finger stuck on string 2, 1st fret, like he did. But watch out for this: Mostly the licks start on beat 2, but sometimes on beat 4 or beat 1. I like it because it’s slow and simple, like me.

I’ve never seen any tabs for this, but you can just listen to the original a few times and you’ll have it. WARNING: You will be stuck with a brainworm for days. After a week, I still can’t get it out of my mind, so I guess I’ll be going for psychotherapy to deal with that.

Great exercise, Steve. Never heard this before but two chord jams are so much fun and playing music is the best psychotherapy 😉

Simple but effective Steve. Great exercise for working on creative phrasing and you came up with some interesting ideas. Nicely done…let us know how you make out with your therapy sessions…😊.

First time I heard this song was when Eric C posted a solo over the track 3 years ago. Thanks for reminding me of this song, Steve. Peter Green’s use of slides is so unique and beautiful in this song, well worth studying.

Well-done, Steve. I was not familiar with this song. Your rendition has a definite Neil Young vibe to my ears. Kudos, sir.

Wow, that’s a pretty radical departure from the original, but very cool. I’m a bit disappointed that he didn’t include some bouzouki licks in there. With his white suit, he looks like someone I would see at Coconut Grove in Miami.

Yes, simple but effective chord sequence Steve. Plenty of cool licks on display also and … love the change up in sound. All the best! 🥸🎸🥸

                            Oh yes!!!🐛
That’s a nice song and chord progression for improvising for sure.
I love the 2 chords on and forth playing, it’s very addictive.
Great full drive sound for a change😀.
Your improv with the phrasing and slides sounded good!
What a beautiful bird🦜 in the video.

Great improv, Steve! Peter Green was one of the best, and this is certainly an ear worm 🎶😎

Interesting study Steve. Fun! Entertaining! And, useful. You start cautiously and open up nicely. The true mark of a guitarist is being able to say something, and you are! Well done. Bravo. Great exposition.

Really cool submission, Steve. Sounds great. Focusing on phrasing is always a good idea.
