Sad to hear that Dusty Hill past away today in his sleep. He handled the bass for ZZ Top for over 50 years.

I just heard the news too Mike. ZZ has always been such an iconic Texas Blues Band, and Dusty was such a solid bass player and singer. May he Rest In Peace.
Hopefully the other guys can carry on.

I was fortunate to see them live at a motorcycle rally in 2008. It always amazes me how big a sound they got with a trio. I don’t think Frank and Billy are ready to retire yet but Dusty sure leaves a large void to fill.

Hope he passed easy. He will be missed. He was a gifted singer and bass player. I always admired those with the talent to play single note bass lines and sing at the same time. It’s kind of like playing lead guitar and singing over the top. Not many can do it well. He certainly could.
So I have come out of lurking mode to reply to this. A long time ago I lived in Casper Wyoming and had traveled to Denver for business. When I got onto the plane to return home I noticed some very strange looking guys with really long beards. At some point it dawned on me it was ZZ Top. I had tickets to see them that evening. It was the first time I ever had to put something in my ears because it was so loud. I guess I felt kinda of old at ~ 30 (maybe 40 years ago?}
