October 29 1971 5:45pm Duane had just left a birthday gathering riding his Harley Sportster. He swerved to avoid a truck but his bike flipped, pinning him underneath.

Less than 3 weeks from his 25th birthday, he had accomplished more in the final3.5 yrs of his life than some players do after a career spanning several decades

Not only had he formed the Allman Brothers Band, one of the most influential bands in rock history; not only had he worked on the Layla album with Eric Clapton, arguably Clapton is greatest release but Duane had appeared on scores of session in Muscle Shoals and NYC with the likes of Boz Skaggs, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Herb’s Man, King Curtis and many others

Add to all of that his slide guitar and improv skills places him as on of the greatest of all time

Good collection of albums. We’re having a dying tropical storm hit us today in New Zealand, so it will give me something to do today.

Lot’s of history here. Watched half so far because the Ram game is a blowout!
