I am only 8 weeks into guitar playing but would like to record my efforts to listen to where i mess up and hopefully understand it better i would also down the road when i get actual song playing ability like to record my own stuff which of course means i will have to add bass lines and drums from a software package, which is the best ‘studio’ software for this kind of project.
Also which is a good software package to provide me with bass lines and drum patterns that i can use to suppliment my guitar leads?
thanks
Neil.
p.s how do i connect the guitar to the computer, and does this mean i nedd to upgrade my computer speakers to studio ones??

Hi Neil,
Well it all comes down to your budget really. Some items I can suggest that won’t set you back a lot is as follows:Guitar Interface: Line 6 Pod Studio GX. Under $100.00 & has Pod Farm 2 included
Recording Software: It depends on your computer. For Mac, I’d say “Garage Band” & PC I’d choose “Mixcraft”I won’t go into any detail as you will find more info on youtube. But feel free to ask me any questions.
Cheers Mike

I second the suggestion of Line 6 and various others that are affordable.
As far as connecting to the PC, look for IK Multimedia Stealth Plug. It includes a USB device and some recording software.
I’ve also noticed that Peavey has developed and released something very similar, you can find it on their website.
Ive never tried it but here is an open source 16 channel recording software pkg that is free. Its been available for some time now but as I said, I’ve never used it.

To get you going, you might try out the free “Audacity” recording for your computer. Fairly easy to use.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete
