This is a Quist backing track with an improv I learned on Active Melody. I think it was EP311 or EP312. I didn’t change much and sort of like how I can use what I’m learning here on AM with a Quist backing track.
Hope you enjoy it!

Joe-
Love the dirty grit from the SG. Sounds like you are drawing most of your solo from the A major pentatonic scale. Refreshing and upbeat! 🎸🎶.John

I tend to gravitate to the minor pentatonic and this was a pleasant exercise which mixes a little minor with the major. I’m also trying to use my pedals (Ibanez Tube Screamer) to get a better tone…glad you liked it!

I have to say, I do like that SG sound. Nicely done Joe.

The SG does have a throaty sound and my Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal adds just the right touch to it. Glad you enjoyed it Geoff.

Its like I was saying in my last music post Joe. I think I am becoming a humbucker pickup guy – I just really like the warm sound they make. Pedals help of course 🙂

Wow, great rendition and great tone Joe! I think it’s the first time I hear you playing with an overdrive and I’ve to say it sounded brilliant, along with the SG is a perfect match.

Great job Joe.
Of course I have to mention that guitar – what a tone!
Hopefully you’ll have a dig into Brian’s rock archives and do another one.

Sounding great Joe. And ‘Yes’ love the combo of the GS and the Tube Screamer. I use my TS808 quite often. Mostly with the overdrive on low but every so often crank it up! Thanks for sharing. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Thanks for listening Garry. I also find the TS808 quite versatile and use it frequently to get more sustain plus a little crunchiness.

Nice improv Joe , you found that sweet spot with the pentatonics , with a fine tone to accompany it ,the combination of the SG and tube screamer works a treat , just the right amount of throaty grit .
