Ok Forum!
What DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Software do you use if you have a PC?
I want to do a tutorial for recording your playing on a PC with a Jam track but I do not know what the majority of you use.
Let me know!

I have an old version of PreSonus Studio one, it is a free version. Was the only one I could get to work properly. Tried Reaper and Mixcraft, Ableton worked but was clunky.
Just booted presonus up to see if it still works, its 3 years since I used it so there ya go.

Reaper is what I use.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi Pete,
I use Microsoft (Win 8)
then: 9 SlideShow Ultimate AquaSoft
and: Live Recorder LR-16 (which takes as a wave file on)Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

I’m still on windows xp and it’s pretty well seen its days. I’m quite sure I’ll be going to the computer store to be looking at windows 10 when they come out next month along with the new summer computer models.

Hi Pete,
XP is a proven system. I had for many years. At some point you have to change. I would now, just like you, waiting for Win 10. Then you again for many years a good Systemregards

I use Sonar Platnum from Cakewalk and really like it. I have used daws since there birth from old sequencing software like Master Tracks. I use Sonar with a Presonus 1818VSL interface running Virtual Studio Live. I find this to be a great combination.

If the goal is as simple as recording yourself with a backing track. I’d suggest Audacity. I’ve used Cakewalk Sonar and while I like the extended features, It can hang or otherwise be a little troublesome. This one is easy …. I forgot to mention a key feature….FREE.

By the way, Bryce, I think the tutorial you’re planning is a phantastic idea. 6stringer made a great start with his tutorial/post on VSTs and it helped me and probably many other an aweful lot. Still, it took me a long time to learn the basics about recording with my DAW/VST (I suppose both are more or less the same). These programs are everything but self-explanatory.
The more information we share in this forum, the less time AM-members may need to waste by fumbling around with their DAW, reading long manuals or perusing Youtube for exactly the tutorial they may need at the moment.
