Hi Active Melody family!
February site member challenge time! Congrats to everyone for setting those January goals in the previous challenge. Ok, so for February lets see what you can do with 3 chords (C, F, and G). You can play them in any order, any tempo, and any style.
Try and take advantage of different positions up the neck (using the CAGED System). You don’t have to play them all, but at least 2 of them. And also feel free to play extensions of those chords, i.e. C7, F9, etc.
Lastly, try to work in some fill licks or simple embellishments. Just remember, this can be as simple or complicated as you make it!
The submission date for this challenge will be Sunday, February 27 – you can start submitting Friday, February 25
**If you need assistance with how to record yourself and post to the forum see this post**
_______________
GROUND RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:
1. Post your Youtube, Vimeo, or Soundcloud links of you playing your chosen lesson anytime between Friday, February 25, through Sunday, February 27, 10:00 pm CST. Please do not submit earlier. I think it is fun to see everyone’s posts at once.
2. Submit individually in the “Active Melody Member Challenge Response Submissions” forum. Title your posts “February 2022 Challenge Response – [Your AM Screen Name]”
3. Please submit only a single video or audio file for this challenge.
4. Have fun and don’t be intimidated by these challenges!!! Use these challenges to help you set goals and complete them by a deadline. You can also use this as an opportunity to chat with your fellow Active Melody members and share tips or tricks on this challenge that you think are useful.
5. In my opinion, it is better to show progress versus perfection with these challenges. So if you are a beginner and can only play the first couple of measures. That is completely ok. If you play two more measures of the next challenge piece than you did the previous one, you are on track to getting better. This is what these challenges are about…you learning guitar and getting better. Remember we are all here to support you no matter what your current playing level is.
PREMIUM MEMBERS: DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE ACTIVE MELODY T-SHIRT CHALLENGE:

New member here. Are there any rules to how many tracks can be added? Does it have to be just 1 guitar or can you record a melody ontop of your own chords?

I would say that would be fine, lots of people have posted submissions with multiple tracks in the past. If Brian wants the challenge to be just a single guitar he usually says so and I didn’t hear anything to that affect.

Hi! I’m working on posting my first response to the challenge, yay! I’m sure the following is a FAQ, but how can I embed videos in posts?
Thank you
