Hi folks,
I went back in the archives to the jam track of EP025. It reminded me of a couple of Sam Cooke songs. So I made a medley of “Good Times” and “ Bring It On Home To Me”. Some pretty basic guitar licks but I stayed in the same position on the fretboard. I had a quartet backing me up on the chorus but they couldn’t make it to the video session. 😀 -

When you started singing, it took me by surprise even though that great big microphone is right there front and center. I kept hearing Skynyrd Tuesday’s Gone sounds in that lead @2:06 even though that song is in A major. Nice work.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

I didn’t know those songs, but I loved them in your rendition James! Awesome vocals, your lead vocals and the quartet was just fantastic (offer my congratulations to those guys 😅!),

Dang James, you’re such a crooner! I’m not familiar with the original songs but I’m sure you nailed them and then some! The simple guitar licks fit here the best for that traditional blues vibe especially when you play them so well. The backing quartet added such a smooth and warm timbre to the chorus, I loved it!

Wonderful performance James, with so much taste and sentimentality. Love how you render wonderful vibes with your vocals and nifty picking. Well done as always.

Yes, that’s the good old music from the 1960s that I love. Your performance was perfect as always, both in terms of singing and guitar playing.

“Bring It On Home To Me” is my favorite Sam Cooke song, so I was really happy about your medley. I really liked your laid-back versions. But I’m still wondering who that quartet was that backed you up. 😉

Your crooning is a pleasure as always, and the pentatonic guitar riffs are groovy and melodic. Awesome!

Man, that was excellent James! Great madly, “Bring it On Home To Me” is such a classic great song.
Guitar parts worked perfect for this…it’s striking how much simply stating the melody or playing around it really enhances the song even more so than some virtuosic ripping. Serving the song is what it should be about in the end.

Excellent playing and vocals as usual James! And your ability to hear songs emerge from a backing track is uncanny!

James, I guess these are common chord progressions but it’s amazing how you hear the songs within. Just a wonderful, entertaining mashup. The limited position solos served the songs well, nothing more needed.

Sometimes basic licks are all you need. They complemented the song really well.

Your performances make me virtually travel everytime James! Such a nice atmosphere!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.

Thoroughly entertaining and another excellent performance James.’ Those simple licks served the songs perfectly. And the backing quartet were excellent too but I hope their appearance fee was suitably docked for not fulfilling their contractural obligations!
