I not been playing much guitar lately so I am going to post a video I did a couple of months ago that fits this months challenge. I just made a backing track and improvised some T-Bone Walker style blues playing over a shuffle. I have been focused more on learning harmonica and piano lately since I kind of burned out on playing guitar for a little bit.

This doesn‘t sound burned out at all, Barry. This stuff is surely still burning. I had a lot of fun listening to this Barry G. Band. Perhaps you can add a harmonica or piano player next time.;-)

It sounds great, Barry! Beautifully played, with a tight groove thanks to your backing rhythm guitar and bass parts. The soloing is really a treat for the ears, so fluent and melodic, and you played it effortlessly! A great performance. You clearly have a talent for music, so I’m pretty sure you’ll add very soon piano and harmonica parts to your renditions!

Excellent work Barry – and all your own work. Also a good showcase for T-Bone’s licks. Do you really play bass left handed?

No – I recorded that to try to learn how to do split screen. Recording the music was the quick and easy part. It took much longer to figure out the video editing and I did not even notice the backwards bass playing until after I was done.

That was a masterful performance, Barry – great work all around! It’s nice to have a break from the Guitar sometimes and, I feel, makes it all the more rewarding when you return to it! 🎶

This was such a chilled performance, you make it like a ‘walk in the park’. Thanks for reposting it, excellent work. Learning harmonica and piano can only add to your musical journey. All the best.

Piano is turning out to be challenging. The muscles in your hands for piano are completely different than the one used in guitar. Taking a well to get the mechanics down

First class improv Barry. T Bone would approve. Great job layering in the bass and rhythm. Love the thinline guitar.

Very cool with a lot of attack and dynamics over the whole track. Well done.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Well done, Barry – you definitely got that T-Bone vibe going there. Maybe you could add a harmonica track sometime. I also tend to get distracted by other instruments sometimes, to the detriment of my guitar playing. But now I’ve made a resolution to try to play my guitar at least for a while every day in order to maintain my skill level.

This is absolutely top notch! I enjoy T-Bone walker style of soloing and you totally NAILED it! AND you did your own backing track? and played bass like a pro?? This is as good as it gets, T-Bone Walker would say, “Man, you’re good!”.
Love your tele and bass matching in style and color! Your guitar (and bass, I guess) skills have reached a level where it is ok to venture out and learn other instruments. Your feelings of being burned out on guitar might be just your musical drive pushing you to explore other instruments and transition in becoming a full blown well-rounded musician.

Awesome sub Barry! So clean and I was ready for some Stormy Monday slides in there. Good luck and fun with the 88 keys and the harp! B

So an enjoyable submission Barry, thank you for sharing!

This is excellent playing Barry. There was a big band in my studio for a while there. Great timing, lovely expressive phrasing. I too am a harp player (amateur/not very good) and also go to that when I’m a bit demotivated with guitar (which happens often). Great combo of course. Great stuff.

Really great playing Barry. I remember it from your earlier post. Very cool that you can musically refresh by playing other instruments.

Very smooth licks and transitions Barry, no sign of burn-out. That was a professional performance by any standard with some nice T Bone licks over your 12 bar backing.

Wow that was great and pro level playing!!! I love that T-Bone Walker style. Can’t get enough of that.
Love these bends and strums inbetween. Great classy licks you’ve chosen.
Don’t stop playing the guitar please. You are so good.
