A friend of mine has a ukelele. When I picked it up, I was clueless because I am just too used to having six strings 🤣.
Good on you for picking it up so fast Byron. Fun song 😀

I have a standard uke, and for me, it’s only useful for strumming chords. I think of it as primarily a rhythm instrument. Like when Izzy sings “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” which is the most-watched uke song of all time (1.5 billion views):
BUT…..I bought a baritone uke earlier this year – a really good quality one with a cutout and pickups. It’s perfect for playing complex fingerstyle stuff, as well as chords. It is literally the easiest to play of all my instruments, and maybe the most fun. The 4 strings are tuned exactly like the top 4 strings of a guitar, so there’s nothing new to learn. What happens is that your attention is focused on those 4 strings which tends to be where us guitarists play most of our licks, dyads, triads, and alternative chord voicings, so you get significantly better at all those tricks. I keep mine on my living room couch, so if I’m just chilling watching TV, during a commercial break I grab my uke and play a few tunes. Even my wife likes listening to it, because it’s just such a happy sounding instrument.

Congratulations Byron. Ukes are a lot of fun and you can take them anywhere! Nice version of ‘Stand By Me’, a classic one for Uke players. All the best! 😎🎸😎
