well, I was practising whether I could play that current Dorian thing lesson in different keys and when “noodling around” this short soundsketch emerged…..apart from the drum intro all done by myself….

It’s beautiful, A.S, but I think it’s an Aeolian thang! Cool backing track and very dark, moody lead but I can hear the flat 6th. The i, iv progression is minor, also. Sorry if you just meant this is what came out of your noodling with that lesson.

yes, very unknown territory to me, but glad that you mentioned it – that explains why I could not translate licks from Brian’s lead sheet….

The only difference between aeolian and dorian is the flat 6 becomes a major 6. The dorian progression is a ii, V. So for your progression it would be a G minor and D major. The major 3rd of the D major chord becomes the major 6 of the
G dorian mode. I think Brian played a one chord minor vamp. That has the 1, flat 3rd, 5 +/- flat 7, so you play any minor mode or minor pentatonic.

Love the track but mostly the effect on your guitar. Excellent setup for this feel. Nicely played.
