Hi folks , for this months “duet” challenge, on my pedalboard I have a looper that doesn’t get used very often, so it was a good excuse to fire it up and lay down a simple 12 bar blues backing track in A , i then used Am pentatonic for the lead , also venturing into Dorian mode in some places .
This month marks a personal milestone , reaching 7 years of continuous challenge subs , where’s that time gone ! I’ve still got a little way to go to join the 100 club but hopefully I’ll make it .
Look forward to listening to everyone’s ideas for this month.

Your 7 years of experience are there to be felt…..and to think that I’m only on my third monthly challenge…

Masterfully played, and congrats on 7 years! 🥳
I especially like when you start incorporating harmonized/arpeggiated bits about halfway through.

Toe tapping blues Martin! Great groove and feel.
Wow, 7 years! You must be pretty close to the 100 mark. Sometime later this year? Congratulations! I always enjoy your submissions and appreciate your creativity. -

The blues soothes the soul. This was well played and rhythm and timing perfect. The rhythm part was especially driving and gave the piece a certain sound that I never heard before. Well done.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

That was really cool, Martin. Many years ago John Mayall made an experimental album where he used no percussion, just the rhythm and a bass. It was a shocking concept to the music world at the time. Your playing somehow reminds me of that album. Search Youtube for “My Pretty Girl by John Mayall” and see if you think it’s a similar vibe.

Francis Rossi should hire you!
Love that groovy fast shuffle 12 bar blues. Some classy blues licks and riffs. I heard some greetings from Chucky Berry.
I also like that 6 to 9 chord move and these double stops and fast slides.
Great idea to use the looper.
Well done, Martin.PS: Another 2,5 weeks to go for our holidays in Wales. Please make sure the weather is fine!

First of all congrats on your seven straight years of challenges, an impressive achievement!
Liked very much your blues, very original and with some not standard riffs and licks here and there, I think especially thanks to the dorian mode played here and there and to those chords slides, which give a special flavour to the melody.
Excellent rendition and a great idea to play over your looped rhythm guitar!

That was really a great and unique way to accomplish this Challenge. Way to go Martin.

So very cool! Sounded great. You have a nice blues vocabulary to pull that off. You have inspired me to work on looping. You look relaxed and confident. Great rhythm as well chops allowing your lead play to breathe. Your blues licks were varied and dynamic, up and down the fingerboard. Well done my friend.John

An excellent performance from you, Martin – I especially love your way you let the notes breathe and don’t rush or over-complicate your lead. – Mark 👍🎶😎

Nice, Martin. It had a “Roadhouse Blues” feel to it. I definitely need to utilize my looper more, it’s probably one of the best practice tools.

Martin, once you got that 12 bar blues groove going, there was no stopping you! Such a simple yet catchy driving rhythm, it should be a pillar of anyone’s repertoire! And then so much music can be made playing to it, each round you added something different, so many licks and bluesy melodies. Loved how you spiced things up with Dorian flavor, the whole jam sounded fantastic!
And SEVEN years of continuous challenges, WoW! Congratulations!!!

Seven times 12 is 84, so I expect to see you back here in July of 2028 for No, 100.—especially if you can deliver more of this shuffling Johnny Be Good-style blues.. You get a nice clean sound out of that guitar set-up, though it would also be interesting if you cranked up the gain a little more.

84 continuous challenge submissions is amazing! This video is proof of how much you have achieved in that time.
