Well, I know Brian always asks to post something original or related to the lessons for the challenge, and possibly not a cover, but sometimes I break the rule and this time I did it for a song that I started to learn 6 years ago and had been practicing from time to time for a very long period.
The last month I finally was able to put all the pieces together and decided to record it, and it’s just a duet with my self, so here it is 😅!
Hope you’ll like it, even if not an original composition.Guido

A classic song, good harmonies, crystal clear guitars and overall a very smooth production.

Awesome playing and singing Guido. Lot’s of great acoustic harmony and it’s at a very brisk pace so that’s top notch stuff.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Wonderful accomplishment, Guido.
You played both guitars so skillfully and recorded them so beautifully. Not to mention your ability to sing while playing complicated parts. I noticed the brisk tempo as well, great all around.

Guido,
Of all your performances, this is my favorite! A lot of work goes into soemthing like this and you nailed it on all levels. I love Jim Croce’s work. Lets not forget Maurice Muehleisen ….what an incredible talent he was. Although classically trained from a young age, he did not start playing guitar until age 17 and died at 24. Hard to imagine what would have came from him had it not been for that plane crash. Congrats on this performance. Pap

Thanks Pap! Yes, I know quite well the story of Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen. What strikes me most is how humble, down to heart guys they were, despite being so talented and n. 1 in the charts (so different from the nowadays conceited pop stars). Both deeply missed.

Wow, great music Guido. A wonderful throwback to times gone by. I love the acoustic sound you captured with the fills and flourishes. A lot of fun to listen!

That was really pro quality Guido. How you managed to sing and play amazes me. Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen would be proud!

Thank you so much for this heartwarming moment, Guido.
It’s simply a beautiful song with intricate guitar work. And you’ve done it all justice. What’s more, you’ve created a wonderful version of your own with great harmony vocals. It was a pleasure to listen to.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom

I know you are a huge fan of Jim Croce.
That’s a beautiful song. Such great and beautiful lead lines. You played both parts so skillfully with a great and clear tone.
Love your vocals.
Like Andre mentioned, the song looks very tough to play.
You could play that song on stage.
BRAVO!!!!!!PS: thanks for your nice and detailed comment on my submission. It’s very appreciated.

Beautiful take on this classic, the guitar parts were an absolute standout and so well recorded, your vocals fit this style perfectly.
Doesn’t look an easy one with the brisk tempo but you nailed it !Martin

Jawdrop … that was amazing. It was like listening to the professional recording from the sound studio. Your vocals were perfect for this song. Six years in the making, you deserve a standing ovation. 👏.

Your harmonies, particularly, were really beautiful— a great cover of this lesser-known Jim Croce song. Wonderful performance – Mark 👍🎶😎 -

Wow! This evoked a rush of emotion in me my friend. Your guitar work and vocals were impeccable. I especially liked your vocal harmony.. so spot on. Very impressive. This is a keeper. You passed the audition. And, I love that Dove.😎👍🎸John
PS-The guitar work on this could be more challenging than the solos on Freebird

This was beautifully done. Period. Great guitar work. Pretty harmony.
(Took me a minute to get used to the non-Croce accent, but this was still fabulous and worthy of all the time you put in on it.) Great tone on the guitars, too. -

What a great cover, Guido! I used to listen to Jim Croce back in the early 90’s, it was one of my first musical discoveries in the USA and this song was definitely one of my favorites! Can’t imagine what it took to learn the intricate guitar parts, the rhythm alone seems challenging, and then all those well-timed harmonies! So beautiful! I think it was a great idea to revive your ongoing project, what better way to get it done than make it a challenge with a deadline, right?
Not sure if you know that but his son AJ is touring with his dad’s repertoire, a Croce Play Croce show.

Thank you very much Jola for your very nice comment! Yes, I read something about it: it’s a very nice thing that his son continues his father’s legacy and bring these wonderful songs to the new generations (hopefully).

Had to come back for another listen, Guido. One of my favorite songs. I’ll play a verse and chorus nearly every time I pick up the guitar. I’ve never learned Maury’s part though. I think you and I have covered the same songs maybe four or five times now on A/M. You’ve got great taste in music. 😀 🎶 🎸

Thank you very much James! Yes, we have similar tastes, and particularly we share a common passion for Croce’s songs. I remember very well the renditions of his songs that you posted here, in particular your brilliant version of “Time in a Bottle”. You’re an inspiration for me in the AM community, especially for singing and vocals harmony but also for your original arrangements of the songs that you covered, and your nice comments are always very much appreciated.
