Hello AMers
Well, I didn’t write my own song for this lesson but I did learn andrecord my rhythm track under the lead.
I actually did this one in May of 2024 EP562 but decided to RELEARN AND RE-RECORD it just to see if I could do it any better. Theres a little improvement although I did make some errors. I just like this lesson a lot. I also recorded myself doing the backing track and played the lead over it and this is the first time I’ve tried that. I like it so I might do it with all the lessons.
Like I’ve said though, I’d sure like to be able to embed my rhythm track video over the Lead in the same video but It’s just too hard for me to learn those DAW program on my own. If I knew someone who could teach me exactly how to do it with “one on one” lessons, I’d be in.
I did try to learn “Ableton” and paid 99 bucks for the app a few years ago. I got so far, then I could go no further so I quit.
Thanks for listeningALL IT TAKES TO WRITE A SONG IS........3 CHORDS AND THE TRUTH!

You kept the groove well and I agree, that’s a great lesson that I only know exists because you played it. I’ll have to go back and work on that one as it looks pretty challenging to play at the original 100bpm. I love all the lessons that Brian plays on his hog.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Your rhythm part is very steady, and I like the contrast of open strumming to muted strumming. Lead is great too, very clean picking and great timing. Well done 👍

Great job on both rhythm and lead, Paddyboy. Your acoustic sounds really good on this recording.

To heck with the technology Paddyboy…you put together a fine submission playing lead over your rhythm. Very nicely done.

Paddyboy
This is well played, entertaining and fun. I gotta say your fingers dance nicely about the fretboard. This is a delightful listen. Impressive 🪕👍John

I reckon this might be your best post ever. You played it to perfection, and the recording quality was excellent. Maybe after you retire you can do a deep dive into the world of DAWs and video editors. Years ago I tried Ableton, but found it to be less user friendly than some other DAWs. I guess GarageBand is the most popular DAW in the world due to its ease of use, followed by Logic Pro (the professional version). But that requires you to be part of the Apple ecosystem. But you might want to have another go at using Ableton, because there is something available now that wasn’t available even last year: Google AI searches. For example, if I want to import a backing track and convert it to a different BPM, I would just open Google and type “Logic Pro, import backing track and convert BPM” or something like that. It will then tell me exactly how to do it, and offer several related Youtube videos also. It’s good to strain your brain, helps to stave off Alzheimers.

Paddyboy…really nice performance on this. I agree with Steve. I have been using Ableton Live Lite because it came with my interface. I bought it from Sweetwater and they helped me get started using it. However, there is so much to learn…try youtube and just dinking around with it when your not in a crunch. Great listening to you play this challenging lesson. Cheers. Pap.

That sounded great, Paddy, well played.
I think there’s a lot of value in learning the rhythm parts under Brian’s lessons. It can really familiarize you with the chords you’re playing over, help you hear common progressions and solidify some music theory.

Learning and recording the rhythm parts of the lessons is an absolutely fantastic idea and I have also thought about that and maybe did a few times. Very helpful to be able to play all parts of the song, especially the rhythm, if nothing else. Your playing was nothing short of excellent, you’re getting better and better., Paddyboy! And as for learning how to put two video clips together, do baby steps. Record yourself playing one part. Then record yourself playing the other part. Once you have the two videos, see what your video processor allows you to do with two video clips, experiment a bit, pin-point where you get stuck and ask Gemini (Google) for help. This works for me 99% of the time.

This was flawless! I liked everything about this, from the rhythm to the tone of the guitar to the hybrid picking. There was nothing wrong with the recording, either, as far as I could tell. I listened to you perform this a couple times — and so I could watch your flat-picking style. (There was a little hint of Doc Watson in there,)

Sounds great on both rhythm and lead , you captured a lot of nuances in this one ,
I’m liking those slow bends , very well recorded as well .
I think giving these lessons a revisit is invaluable there’s always another little detail to pick up on .
Well playedMartin

Really well done enjoyed it a lot
I use a freeware tool called Audacity for the sound recording with a scarlet 212 and either direct or Mic
The video editing is done with DaVinci Resolve which is also freewareDidn’t have time to do PiP but you can put the Audio track down as the Master then lay video tracks along it moving them till they match then delete the video audio
