Hi, I have been a student here at AM for about 6 years and am new to the forum. My first attempt at posting was kindly redirected and it was suggested that it may be more appropriate to post in this subforum. I am not very familiar with recording for YouTube and posting but I did manage a SoundCloud upload. I was motivated to post as I recently acquired my first resonator guitar (Beard Radio Standard-A) and I have been experimenting with creating my own impulse response for using the built in Fishman pickup and playing through a PA system or recording into a DAW. Anyway, thanks to Brian for all of his hard work preparing lessons for us. The majority of my guitar literacy is credited to this site. Thanks and happy picking everybody.

Wow Stacey, I have to say i am impressed. You are a good guitar player and I loved the sound of that resonator. Forgive me if i am displaying ignorance but I am not familiar with this song. Is it your own composition?

Excellent recording quality too. It took me a long time to figure out what works for my classical guitar recordings so hats off to you for producing this quality on a first attempt 👌 . Getting good recordings like this is not easy.

Please post here again. I enjoyed listening 🤎

Geoff, Thanks for the good words and encouragement.

It was my own composition and was recorded spontaneously in the spirit of Brian’s instruction on improvisation. It was recorded in one take and I would have to work a bit to be able to recreate it.

I did add a little compression, delay and reverb post recording via a plug in on my DAW (Ableton Live). This added a little stereo fullness. I recorded with an impulse response that I created with a free 14 day trial of Melda Productions software. (a video link here if interested: https://youtu.be/xoEbc6rC43o?si=-k5wCQxtQ4-EjBb8.

Thanks again for your positive response and best wishes on your guitar journey.

Very nice and relaxing composition and it sounds great on the resonator!
It would make a beautiful soundtrack 🙂
