I’m on fire cover – Juxi

Hello AMers!
I saw an incredible arrangement of this song by Carson McKee. As I always struggled to match the electric guitar playing of the original, this version seemed doable, even for my meager skills. So – here it is: I’m on fire in an acoustic version.

I planned to get my friend Harald to sing for me. But after our recent life performance he is not willing to sing again. In June, we performed in our neighborhood and before friends and we did make many mistakes (especially me on guitar). But it was not that horrible – in my opinion. But now Harald thinks he cannot sing at all, even though I told him his voice is so great, that a few “wrong” notes do not matter at all. He told me that my singing was fine and he could not do it better – I strongly disagree.

If you want to do me a favor comment on the video on Youtube and express your wish that you would love to hear Harald sing this song – Im sure his voice would be great on this.

But in the meantime and as Sühwind is “on hold” … I tried to do my very best 😏

Nicely done Juxi! Big credit to anyone who puts themselves out there singing…I’ve always felt the guitar was a nice buffer between myself and an audience; to just use your voice takes some guts. 👏

Nice cover, Juxi. Both guitar parts are excellent and you did a good take on the vocals too. Like John mentioned, hitting that falsetto at the end was impressive.
Sorry to hear that Harald doesn’t want to play anymore but you keep on picking and singing. 🎸 🎶

Thanks for the encouragement, James. The high notes at the end turned out to be easier to sing, because the guitar track I recorded first guided me to the right pitch. I was not so lucky during the rest of the song 😏🙄 but it was fun to do this cover.
By the way, when my wife watched the video for the first time, she compared the end to a dogs howling- I am really glad I have you guys 😎

Don’t agree with your description of ‘meagre skills’ Juxi, that was an excellent performance. It had everything, cool guitar both fingerstyle and electric, a voice pitched just right for the genre and beautiful scenery.
You can’t get better than that.

So much work went into this and the result is impressive. High level production Juxi. Both guitar parts captured the mood of the song with light and shade and also your singing especially the falsetto. All sealed with beautiful scenery throughout.

The tones and playing on both guitars were brilliant and especially the lead – it sounded as close to the original.

Your vocals are also a big pass for me ( good like pass the test not that I want to pass listening!) and I think you should continue to hone them.
