I saw this the other day and gave it a try on my two tube amps (Peavey Classic 30 and Vox AC15) and had a great result. I have struggled to try to figure out the best setting for my amps, especially live. In my experience, this technique gets you 80% there. The other 20% is tweaking your amp to your preference from that sweet spot and then messing with your tone and volume knobs on your guitar to your taste. This probably does not apply to solid state amps. I don’t own one so I don’t know if it does.
If you don’t have a master volume knob to turn down on your tube amp it is just going to be LOUD. 🙂

hey Bryce like this topic.. i have a tube (Laney) and although it cranks for gain rock …i found it difficult to adjust for smooth stuff..specifically jazz..i was told even after that this is an awesome amp by more than one but still find more balance with my older solid state g dec amp as for it’s presets and so..even the little yahama i found to create/adjust subtle tones.. but honestly feel /hear the presence of the Laney cub amp more forward to rock/gain as far as i can tell so far..haven’t been using it it as much as i i probably should from what i been told!.. maybe you can reveal here what i don’t know but i still rather use for practice my smaller watt soliud states with built in presets! btw I’m not much into effects or use pedals… that is why i ask/reply to this topic …tia , cheers!

because i watched blackstar amp youtube demos,, i think i might buy one someday..not sure yet because i am still trying to hear what three amps i have for (practice not playing out) the best amp i have is a 15watt cub amp which should be good enough for live jams.but i really don’t like the thought of using pedals .. i use to try this and that..done away with them..lol..honestly just like a good vibe through an amp and just play! what are your thoughts?

Pedals have there place. It all depends on the sound you are looking for.

Agree, setting a class A tube amp is tonally cool! Man ,let me mention too, have replace an eight inch factory speaker that finally gone bad after many service years (little G-Dec 15 Fender) nothing to rave about but the fact a new 30.00 celestian made this amp a little monster like never before! Says much about speakers!!!! Speakers make a big difference too! ..been playing this solid state this am using my lp doing ep 203 which is a lot of fun! like the SVR classic pentatonic licks mixed in too!
