How do I record & upload a video ?

Hi,
Youtube no longer provides a way to record a video easily from your webcam/laptop. How can I do this now since I don’t have any fancy recording/video software? Thanks.

Thanks for asking this question.
I find the recording process way more challenging than learning/playing the music, and it diminishes my enjoyment of playing.
Hope to see a wide range of suggestions, considering there’s so many different hardware/software combinations, and from the quality of the postings, many AM members seem to know what they’re doing.

Music-AMG, thanks but the forum posts seem to refer back to the Youtube ability to record which they discontinued on their site on Jan 16th. I’m looking for a way to record a video simply from my laptop.

I don’t have any recording stuff .
I got a GoPro at Christmas and haven’t even tried it yet .
For some reason I have no desire to try to figure all this stuff out .
I use my iphone . Period .
Record it , send to YouTube then copy and paste .
Maybe it’s laziness or the fact I work 12 hr days and my days off if rather just play guitar and not worry about it.
I’m with you Canada moose . My
enjoyment is with just playing .

I think using a smart phone or tablet is the easiest way to upload video. You Tube did mention the following when announcing getting rid of their online video recording:

“Alternatives to webcam capture

You can use software on your computer to record and save a webcam video, and then upload the video to YouTube. Popular software includes Photo Booth for Mac OS X and Camera for Windows 8+. If you have another OS, you may need to look up how to record videos using your webcam by referencing your device manual or searching online.

If you have an iOS or Android phone, you can record videos with your phone’s camera and upload them with the YouTube app.”

Hi Vojtech, I’m very low tech right now with no android phone. I was looking last night at what software I have on my laptop as Bryce has suggested. I found a video camera feature but the sound is super low so I’m trying to figure out how to boost the audio. If someone has tried a free software download then I’ll try it but I’m not sure I just want to download any type of software since it may contain a virus. Thanks for replying.

I signed up for Vimeo a couple of years ago: I record all of my playing there, and then just include the weblink when I post on AM.
