        Hi everyone,
Trying out my new Viva MTP-11 single coil acoustic pickup with my Gretsch Jim Dandy. This is a parlor guitar so hard to find a budget acoustic pickup that will fit this soundhole. Anyway, I secured it on one side and it clears the strings well and sounds good to me so mission accomplished. Viva does make a humbucker pickup the MTP-12.

        Thanks for watching.

Hey that sounded great, Tim. Seems like a few members have these clip on acoustic pickups. Are they adjustable, or do you just have to buy the one that fits your guitars sound hole?

            Hi Dave,
This one has a groove on each side and so once it makes contact with the soundhole then it can be tightened to the guitar by tightening the screw. So there is a screw on each side of the pickup. This particular pickup is really a little too big for the soundhole but it fits on one side and can be screwed down but then the other side cannot but it’s held in place by the one side. Most of these acoustic pickups will have specs which show what soundhole sizes they will accomodate.

Hey, Tim, that sounded CRAZY good! I would NEVER think the sound was coming from a Jim Dandy and it had that warm jazzy vibe to it. It may have had to do with your awesome playing, 😉 Amazing, thanks for the demo!

Hey Tim, nice sounding pickup. I just posted an update on my thread. I mentioned I can’t find yours here , but I might go with this one.

The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

                      Hi Pete,
Looks good and has the screw attachment on each side so similar to mine. If the price fits and you find some demo of it then I would go for it. Let us know if you get it.

I placed an order for it. Got free shipping also. Should get it in about a week. Apparently its a favorite for Korean guitar players. I guess it is made in Korea also.

                        Here’s a video

It’s going to go on one of these guitars. Morris or Cats Eye by Tokai

The Dandy sounds dandy with a pickup in, I had one of these little guitars but sold it in about a year back, Don’t know if you have adjusted the set up or not, I lowered the bridge on mine to a reasonable string height ..

                                Hi Billy,
My Jim Dandy came with a perfect string height so no adjustment needed. I just changed the strings and it was good to go.

Hey Tim, nice playing. Your Jim Dandy sounds great. I had one a few years ago but ended up getting rid of it. You’re making me wish I still had it!

Looks and sounds good. I have a Taylor Baby guitar which I often use, but it has no pickup. I thought about getting one, but I ended up just putting a directional condenser mic near it. Seems to work OK, and is a good solution for lazy people like me.

Hi Tim, incredibly clear tone. Amazingly direct and …. well played.

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.
