For the next couple months, I’ll be posting Our Blues Roots once a month; next one will appear in two weeks on Thursday, February 1. If you’re looking for some blues, here are a few playlists.

Don,
You deserve a break!Tim

Thanks Tim, I don’t know about “deserve” but it’s taking me longer to get things done, I need a break (I love doing the Blues Roots, and I have been working on these playlists). I know the days get shorter in the winter, but you’d think I’d be able to get as much done at night.

Don, I have to say that I am guilty of not keeping up with your great serialisation of the blues roots. It means that I have to spend a lot of time online reading( and I get easily distracted), have you ever thought of doing a podcast on a monthly basis?.

Thanks, Billy, I haven’t really thought about it. I’ll do a little investigating.

You’re more than welcome, Bryce! It’s my pleasure, and thank you! You do so much around here. I’ve just had a few too many other things to do. Looking forward to getting back to a biweekly Blues Roots.

Thanks, Mike, I’ve been working on these playlists, trying to strengthen the first part of each of them. But in all of them, you get to a point where there’s repetition. If you have any particular interest, let me know.
Here are a few more.
“Chicago blues guitarists, part 1”
This one is almost a year old, “Ax grinders, harp crushers and other heavy, heavy heavies for Our Blues Roots.”
“Gittars, a very incomplete overview”
There’s a little overlap between these last two, and there could be even more if I were keeping closer watch.
This last one is a found playlist, featuring singer/drummer Kansas City Red, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Sunnyland Slim, and Walter Horton.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSEh1fazQRN5MWvIVZilCwSsz5OFNsHc1The first and second songs on the playlist above, Muddy Waters’ “Standing Around Crying” and “Crawling Kingsnake Blues” (John Lee Hooker performed this version a lot), are the ones I really want to call your attention to, they are so good (the rest of the playlist is gravy). These two songs performed by Kansas City Red (vocal and guitar), Eddie Taylor (guitar, see playlist below for more), Nate Armstrong (harmonica), Hayes Ware (bass), these songs were produced by Steve Wisner, album released 1982 (Joe Carter is on three other great songs on album, not on these).

Thank you, Rob! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying them. I’m going to try to make the next one a great one.
I added a little more above.

Thank you, Ron! I’ll make it a good one. One of the things about being busy with other things, and the cold, gray winter, my imagination is working slower along with with everything else.
