I have had problems with keeping my guitar in tune, and I am sure a lot of people do too. I never really considered why till I watched this video. Kind of makes sense when you think about it.. meaning, the shape of the head and how the strings angle to the tuners.
The Paul Reed Smith guitars are famous for staying in tune. Now I see why.. The strings on the nut don’t angle like a Gibson..
I think I will be giving this product a try.. It’s called the String Butler. It is a plate that goes under the middle set of tuners and makes the strings on the head go through the nut almost straight, like a PRS or a Fender does.
Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.

Interesting Gene! If I spent a couple of grand on a guitar it better damn well stay in tune!

Man it’s amazing what you learn on the internet! I’ve never owned a Gibson so can’t really comment from experience but nobody’s ever said to me that they don’t stay in tune. Why do people pay big money for them if they fail this basic requirement.
Don’t think it will stop me lusting after a 335 tho. Is the cost of the butler pennies or tens of pounds ? I didn’t catch a price.George

For what it is worth my old strat stays in tune preety well permenantly. It does not get moved around and that obviously is a bonus from that view point as I am not good enough to go out and about with it. It will be intresting to hear how mmuch affect the re alignment makes.

Yeah, I posted about it last week I think. I immediately ordered one, the science behind it is absolutely spot on, can’t see why this wouldn’t make an immediate improvement on a Gibson-style guitar.

Mark, If you don’t mind please let us know what you think of and how it does. Lucille seams to stay in tune very well but being an Epiphone it may be completely different from a 335 as far as staying in tune,

Gary.I will certainly do so. Also if I’m not mistaken, Epiphone’s necks have less of an angle break than Gibson’s do so apparently the problem isn’t as bad with them. I think I saw a video that Philip McKnight did on this a while back that explained it better.
