OK Am-ers,
Here’s my February submission to our monthly challenge.
I call this one “Guitar SwingTime.”
It’s an up-tempo, toe tapping tune, written (at Brian’s direction) with C-F-G chords,
and with C-F-G singular notes added to use as much of the fretboard space as I dared!
Beginning with a C chord from the barred eigth fret in E chord shape, then pitching down to a G chord at the barred third fret in E shape. Back and forth here a few times as introduction to the melody but later focusing on first position C-F-G chords dancing back and forth with single C-F-G notes and a ‘slide’ or two.
This was really fun to work through as I feel like I set the goal of playing C-F-G and then just “let my fingers do the walking” along the fretboard!Getting back to barre the eighth fret with E shape again was more difficult than I could handle, but I’ll continue to work on that. After recording-take number 15, reaching for perfection, I just had to let it go!
So much fun to play, this one’s a great tuned to exercise any of those winter-weary, un-tapped twinkle toes. Enjoy!
Please ignore the erroneous date stamp – this video was created February 26, 2022.I love the end of the month challenges and look forward to checking out all the great submissions you guys will upoad! Oh, what fun we have. It certainly helps to focus here with such sorrow across the world.
Cheers while we can:

Very nice, Marie, it looks like you did have loads of fun with your Guitar Swing Time song! You stuck with the challenge requirements perfectly (mission accomplished 😉 ) and I also noticed your videos are getting better each time, well done! 👍

Thanks JoLa,
Still working on selecting the most appropriate video tool, I like the resolution from this one. It’s just a low-end Amazon ordered video cam but the sound seems much better than my cell phone. When time permits I like to record the audio with my DAW but in a pinch I think this one does a good job. The erroneous date stamp and the recognition that the audio and video are a bit out of sync were strictly operator errors. :0)Such fun stuff to play with,

Glad to share guitar swing time with you, Marie. And it‘s the right title, because it swings and grooves throughout. Keep the groove going, Marie.

The “fisheye” was a neat tool I discovered in the “VideoPad” software I’m using. Great fun also to play around with the video production.

Hey Pap,
Funny you should mention that as I much prefer to stand when I sing/play.
It really does offer the freedom to feel and move with the music.Regards,

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Well played, Marie, quite different from your usual offerings. I can’t help but notice the similarity between your composition and the one posted by Richard S below. You guys should get together and do a collaboration, maybe take turns with some call and response.

Nicely done M.J.!!! You focused so much on C/F, which I love for it reminds me of one of my fave Rolling Stones tunes! Check it out! And you can sing along with everyone else around the campfire! It goes:
“I saw her today at the reception! A glass of wine in her hand. I knew she would meet her connection . . . .
You Can’t Always Get What You Want
But, if we all try . . . I hope we get peace in Ukraine!
Rock on Sista. Great vibe here!

Hey thanks Bobby Ut,
Yes, I remember that tune, but with your reference now I’ll haue to go listen to it again!Wish we could get enough guitar strings vibrating around the World to cure its ills likely borne of insufficient “Good Vibrations.”
Prayers for the People.Good Wishes to you :0)

Hi Marie:
Your rhythm is compelling for its up-tempo steadiness AND it’s also got that wonderful hook of the suspended notes as Phil termed them. Very enjoyable!
Cheers, Tom
