Hi everyone!
Here’s my short composition for this challenge. I don’t know exactly what inspired me for this rythm, but it reminds me of the intro of George Michael’s “Faith”…
I used major and minor C pentatonic scale, and C major scale, or more exactly F mixolydian scale. I also put some 7 and 9 chords in it.
I could have polished the performance a bit more, but hadn’t enough time, hope you’ll enjoy it nevertheless.
Enjoy the challenge!
SerenaIf I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
It's all about taking risks, sometimes you get to some place, sometimes you get to a different place. (Brian May) -

Fast playing Serena. You seem to know your way around the fretboard, well played. I have enjoyed everybody challenge this month, all complete different.

You set up a really nice groove there Serena, I loved the tight double-stops and runs in between the rhythm chops. A good response to this weekend’s challenge.

Serena, well done. This is a noble and serious step forward. You pulled off some super licks and riffs in-between chords. Also, I love your insight on perfection. The journey is what is fun! Well done.

Wow Serena that was a fast and vast step up for you. This time next year you could be giving lessons rather than following them. Great job.

You gotta have “Faith” Serena. 😉 I heard it and it sounds good. Maybe slow it down just a bit and add a little distortion to your tone on that bad ass SG.

You’ve picked a really quick tempo on this and played it well on that SG. The beauty of it, though, with those 9th chords, is that you can slow it way down and use those same licks (only slower) get some really fine blues.

Serena, there is never enough time (is there?) 🙂 I like what you did here. Your runs were in the pocket and I could feel the groove. Your confidence has really increased as well and I think that makes a world of difference. Nice job. Cheers. Pap

Well done. Especially the work between the chords and the double stops. Amazing pace. Well done.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Very groovy Serena – your playing is just getting better and better all the time. Very impressive!

Great job Serena. You demonstrate a good understanding of caged and used it very well.
Suggestion – your strumming would be smoother if you kept your right hand moving constantly in 16th notes as you were playing but without stopping and restarting. The right hand motion keeps the groove going. You have the dexterity already. I found that using a metronome helps a lot.Keep it up.

Very original, and well played, Serena! I like it. You will ultimately become a very fast and accurate player, judging by the way you handled those fast licks.

Serena!!! Beeeeeautiful!!! Yes,’Cause I gotta’ have faith
I gotta have faith! Because I gotta have faith, faith, faith! I got to have faith, faith, faith . . .
I wish you would have played for another 3 minutes ++++
Like Livio said: Bellissimo!!!!
Like Richard said: The right hand is the “engine”. Keep it going up and down even if you are not hitting the strings!
So good – I look forward to more. Post more during the month please!!! BobBob U. (aka Bobby Ut)

Gosh Serena, you get better every month! This was a fine example of fill licks between chords and you played with a crisp and speedy attack. Lots of fun!

This is one of my favourite styles of playing. Little chord sequences, interspersed with licks. You did an superb job, its not easy to keep the tempo going and get your left hand out of the chords and into the licks but you did. Really funky little composition too. Loved it!

Great rhythm nicely colored by quick licks.
It also reminds me a known song, but which one?Where does the white go when snow melts?

Hi Serena:
Performance, to me, is more about communicating musicality and to a lesser extent polish. And your piece is very enjoyable for the musical thought and energy you so obviously put in and successfully covey. And on top of that you played it very well:-) Great post.
Cheers, Tom
