For someone who doesn’t actually listen to country a lot I have to say that Brian’s country lessons are the most fun to play and this one was an absolute blast.
Even though I have a Squire Strat, I couldn’t get quite the ‘Twang’ Brian managed in that lesson on account of me having put in mellower pickups. Whenever I can’t solve a problem I do what I always do and throw on lots of distortion 🙂
Anway, here it is. Probably not as much fun listening to me as me playing this but I hope you enjoy it all the same.

Definitely a really cool lesson Geoff and looks like you were having a blast. You’re right, some of Brian’s lesson are so much fun and even if it’s not our go-to style/genre they’re a heap of fun anyway. Well played and a real country cowboy feel. All the best!

Thanks Garry. We get into all kinds of styles with Brians lessons, I guess thats what keeps them interesting.

You amaze me with all the raw talent you have. I know your first love is classic but you could hit the road in any country band and twang away. Ha Ha. Happy Holidays Geoff.

I think I would like that. Happy Holidays to you too John.

Brilliant country blues with a southern twang, Geoff! And your broad grin at the end says it all! You were definitely having fun! And it was great fun to listen to too!
It has a Hank Marvin (and the Shadows) feel to me …
Happy Christmas!

Hey Geoff looks like you got the country bug! Sounds like you have the twang thing working and the pedal steel licks ringing, but the best part was your improv. You had me hooked and you ended it abruptly…😄. Looks like you’re having a great time….nicely done.

Oh, I had it for a while and then lost my way on the improv. I just didn’t feel like recording it all again – recording has too many moving parts for me. Thanks Ivan.

Great country rock rendition Geoff! It seems really that this is your favourite genre with the electric and your rendition in this style are always absolutely brilliant and it really looks like you’re having fun! Ciao!

Thanks Guido. My favorite has always been the Spanish influences but, wih the electric, anything goes. I do admit, though, that there is something very appealing about the melodies with country guitqr.

Thanks Jay, very glad to hear that. Bends were never my strong point but I do feel they are improving.

Hi Helen, I did need the cowboy hat for this one. I just wish I could maintain the improvs, I get started with them and they just peter out or I go wildly off key.

One of Brian’s best country songs – and one of the most difficult. You play this beautifully at a really fast tempo and with a funky improvisation as a bonus. Great.

Thanks Dieter. It really is a great country song. The difficulty with it was getting it down in my head more than anything else – the licks were actually quite complicated.

There’s an old country song called “If That Ain’t Country I’ll Kiss Your Ass”.
Enough said. No Funeral Director Persona here!Happy Holidays to your family Geoff,

Ok, you got me curious so I looked up that song on youtube – is it th4 one by ‘David Allan Coe’ ? Its a great song, very skillfully put togher loved the whole Southern feel to that one. The arrangement is excellent, brillaint honky tonk piano playing in it too.
I think I am going to spend a bit more of my time listening to country. It is a style I have neglected.
Happy holidays to you too Ralph.

Geoff, way to jump way out of your comfort zone of Classical and tackle this track that flies by at the speed of sound! I can tell you were having a blast playing it. Nicely done and Merry Christmas my friend! Bob
