I’ve always wanted to learn this style of playing, it’s eluded me for so many years. I had a blast working this out-it’s a lot of double stops but there’s tons of melody that holds it all together, and that’s always been the part about my double stop playing that sucks, or is lacking. I guess that’s what made Chuck so popular-he was saying something with it. Really cool lesson. I’ve already started transposing this into other keys-There’s some awesome licks in there and great musical ideas. Thanks for watching.

Another color to your palette, Alberto! The drive brings a bit of modernity to this tune. Very well done. Phil

Good one, Alberto. Every guitar player needs to learn some Chuck Berry Style. This lesson used to be on my permanent repertoire, but it fell off my list after a while. But it led me to learn the solo part for “Fun, Fun, Fun” by the Beach Boys – who were big Chuck Berry fans. You should check it out, because it’s very similar to this lesson.

Sounds great Alberto and the tone is just like Chucks. I would like to try this one someday myself. If I can come anything close to what you did I will be happy!

Got them strings a jump’n. 🙂
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Flawless! If someone just played the audio of that for me and told me it was Chuck, I would not even think twice.

Yes, Alberto, I realize you’ve wanted to play this kind for a while.
Again, you were united with the track. There really is nothing bothering.
I liked it very, very well my friend!!!
WilfriedPlay guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

From another self-described player whose double stop playing sucks, I can empathize with you but I suspect you aren’t giving yourself enough credit, Alberto. That was not only fantastic but very articulate, too. Loved every second of it!

Good AM MORNING ALL! Alberto, I really just wanted to add thoughts, because I thought this take is one of your best considering it is “chuck Berry” you are so almost on top of this Chuck Berry and far from bad on any scale of degree.. Sure you and most here would agree, it only takes a bit more relaxing in the right hand is what I see you and me both with some of are most recents..(picking /rhythm practicing is very important to feel before their solos) I see this in some of the lessons I try to get tight.. why I’m trying to explain this is because ..it doesn’t suk lol.. but yes it can be more relaxed in your strum picking side.. . just like my Billy Gibbons solo or any lead solo ..i think first learning the rhythm ( in this case the double stops and direction of the up down chops in this lesson..they are crucial to get it relaxed and flowing at any tempo.. And Brian has the video and tab to help initially.. than it really falls in place and you’ll know it yourself it is right( can’t be any closer/ or sometimes even better with improvisation etc) All I’m saying is I think rhythm is key to perfecting solos in a lot of cases.. really goes a long way in preparing for any solo licks..Also, how many times we go back to a lesson we put hours into and and put it away for days weeks months only to return and notice it is easier or find out something new to smooth it out as Brian is to tempo etc? Any way great July entry Alberto! I must finish work , it is friday, going to be hot humid today but only have small jobs to knock out,,going camper this weekend into next week! later AMers!

Great job the tempo is the hard part. I’ve tried to play it and failed. I would love to be able to play Chuck Berry . Must try again.

Thanks for all the great comments. In the quest to apply this stuff to my playing I went out to Jam last night and put some double stops to work in this solo. I apologize for the bad video/audio quality, I didn’t record it. At any rate, it’s far from perfect, and I still have a very long way to go, but it’s cool to be able to finally start incorporating some of these musical ideas into improv situations. Thanks for watching.
