After reading the post about Born Under A Bad Sign, I thought I would mention something about the music of Fleetwood Mac around the 1960’s and 1970’s. The guitars of Peter Green, Danny Kirwin, and Jeremy Spencer playing together is simply amazing. Some very cool insturmentals that come to mind are Albatross and Jigsaw Puzzle Blues. Really, really great playing.

Yes, some hardcore blues at that stage. Their original Black Magic Woman is worth checking out.

I am working on Jigsaw Puzzle Blues right now. Some odd moves in it. Great tune.

We are talking the same language now Fresno. I am a huge fan of the early Mac. I have everything they ever released. Peter Green is my favorite, he had such a beautiful touch & never overdid the solo’s. He never felt the need to fill every space with a note or a lick. His debut album with the Bluesbreakers has the incredible instrumental “The Supernatural”, where his sustained note never fails to give me goosebumps. It’s great he’s still with us but oh so tragic about his mental health. Gary Moore did a wonderful tribute album & video called “Blues For Greeny” which should be in all blues lovers collections. He plays Peter’s original Les Paul on many of the tracks. The legend of that guitar is in itself quite a funny story. Peter was messing with the pickups & just inadvertently put the neck pickup in backwards. He sold it to Gary Moore for whatever Gary could get selling his guitar, which at the time, wasn’t much. Gary sold it a few years ago for an undisclosed amount but it’s believed to be in excess of a million dollars. Unfortunately, Gary died suddenly last year from a heart attack whilst on holiday.

Man I love Gary Moore too!!!!!!!! At the Library here I checked out one of Gary’s last albums he did. He plays slide on a tune that is
killer. Gary has played with the likes of Otis Taylor, BB King and Albert Collins. He was so talented. So sad he passed away.

I have a Fleetwood Mac album called Fleetwood Mac in Chicago. So hottttt. My faverite Mac songs are Jigsaw Puzzle Blues, Albatros,
and the tune Bare Trees, Jewel Eyed Judy and Earl Grey.

I have a boxed set of the early Mac stuff that has all the Chicago recordings including 2nd takes etc. Even have a DVD of them playing. I first heard Albatross when I was a young boy & our local national TV station would use it whenever they had a station break down. I always regretted the station coming back & ending my enjoyment of the song (instrumental) Oh & Gary also played with & was influenced by Albert King hence his song “King of the Blues”
