Don’t even bother to watch this unless you are thinking of getting a wah pedal (or making your own). I just wanted to document some of what I learned by trying to play Lesson EP135 (the October 2016 Lesson Challenge) using a wah pedal, in hopes that it might be useful to prospective wah pedal purchasers.

I plan to keep using it every so often so I won’t forget what I’ve learned so far. And as an interesting sidenote, I was listening to some Buddy Guy songs a couple of days ago, and to my surprise, I discovered that he sometimes uses a wah pedal – but only very sparingly, which is the secret of becoming a good wahmeister.

Steve, that was very extensive and interesting. Do you need a line selector in any case? If you do not have a line selector and do not press the Wah pedal, the sound should not be changed either. Or am I wrong?

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

@WBlues, I forgot to mention that part: No matter what position the pedal is in – all the way down, all the way up, or anywhere in between – it sounds very different from the “dry” (= no pedal) sound. You would want to be able to take it totally offline.

Hey Steve that was great!! You’re ready for a youtube gear review channel!! The wah was the first and only pedal I had as a kid, I think it was a vox….interesting way around the clicking and on/off.

In my experience volume plays a part as well….given your set up in the room and sound volumes you’ll pick up those sounds….when I used it in band environment…used it for Led Zeppelins NO Quarter, cant hear any of that…..I also think the wah sounds better louder…..it did fit well in the song where you placed it…..nice playing by the way!

              Thanks for doing this!
