It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hey Pete, That was really good. What effects did you use to get that Koto sound?

Glad to see you don’t just spend all your time sitting around sipping sake… Will we be seeing a koto blues fusion band soon?

Pete,
That sounded pretty authentic! The crickets in the background were a nice touch and the occasional strum with the picking really worked. All I was missing was some sushi and sake and I’d be all set!

JohnThanks for listening John.
I usually use a delay, a slight touch of reverb and some kind of compression VST. I set the bridge pickup to 10 on tone and the neck pickup 0 or 1 to give the tone that gives it kind of a sweet note. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Hey Steve, thanks for listening.
I think my sake days of drinking are over. Doc says “no more”. Well, it was fun going to all these local sake brewing places. We have the best mountain water here and the rice is superb for sake making.Just something about living among the rice fields and hearing the crickets is pretty cool.
How’s the sailing doing?

Hey Tim how ya doing?
Yep them crickets are amazing. When I was stationed in Thailand the Thai people ate something like a cricket raw, can you imagine that. That was some 40 years ago.Sushi is fairly cheap here I think, 2 pieces for a buck. Wife and I can dine out (tonight) for under 12 bucks and that is over eating.

Hey John, I think you’d love my wife’s dumplings, homemade and all natural. Japanese pork (the black pig) is tops, a bit expensive, but well worth it.
Them crickets are in our back yard, hundreds of them. But this year I noticed that the frog population somewhat vanished. Not sure why, maybe the pesticides used on the rice. But I’ve been reading about frogs and the population of them are also decreasing even in America.
It’s soba season now here, I’m not much on soba eating, but the green tea soba seems to a tradition here in Yamaguchi.
Sapporo, I can’t afford it, I have to buy fake beer at a buck a can.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
