Can someone tell me what this means on the tab, does this mean I hit the open string twice?

          Billy,
When the two notes are connected like that, it means you only hit it once but the note length is the sum of the two, so in this case its length doubles.

BILLY, I just logged on, the best way to really get on with the tab is to use both what you hear and see Brian doing!.. again, tab can’t and won’t be as specific for any lesson.. that is why you see Brian’s videos and with the sound you can certainly put the tab question in perspective.. tab is just the notes as with those tab indicators. for example those bends /vibrato symbols are only that.. they are not going to tell as much as listening or watching Brian do it…suggest you still do all three because without tab you will likely ask the same questions lol

usually but not necessarily (0) is a sustained note,, it could also mean ghost note or other anytime in doubt, watch Brian and listen closely for more transparency

I can’t always watch the videos when practising John, that is when the tab becomes important and useful, thanks for the replies.

I think the numbers are just Bar numbers Bar 2 & Bar 5 in the second pic?.
The arch over the two open strings mean the note length is those two notes they cross over the Bar lines!.
                    Only the first is played.
                    They’re called tied notes.

Billy, if you play it like this it will sound alright.

That’s not a smiley face, that’s a triple-inverted fermata with a pinocchio cadence in the bouche. hahahahaha!
