Been testing out my new 2014 Fender American Standard Strat with 57/62 Fender Pick Ups. I’m playing in the 2nd position. Is it quacky enough? I had to buy this because it actually had a vintage tinted maple neck. Love the feel and the tone is growing on me. This arrangement is played in C# using 3 different licks then a turnaround. Hope you like.

The Rhythm King strikes again. Love riff based rhythms and this one’s a classic.
Tone sounds great, John. Your pick ups are pretty low, that’s how I like mine, also. I often see the thin string side of the pick up elevated a little more than the base side. I assume that balances the volume across strings. Have you ever experimented with adjusting the pick up heights?

Yes, John I experiment with with pick up height a lot. I will toy with lowering the middle pickup slightly relative to the neck and bridge pickups in order to get more “quack”. Today, I might raise the bridge and neck pups a hair just to see what happens. These pups don’t have a lot of out put but they sure sound nice. Thanks for the kind words.

That actually sounds really great John.
My feelings about my Squire Strat are pretty mixed. There are times when I really like it but , at others, it just sounds really sharp to my ear. I can never have the tone on full with it. When I play my Guild, I always get what I want.
My Jam Buddy downstairs has an American Standard that looks just like yours and I am going to use it for the next thing I am working on. Maybe I will like it more than my Squire. At the end of the day, i think I favor the fatter sound of humbucker pickups but we shall see 😁

Congrats on your new axe, John! It looks and sounds great, but I wonder what´s going to happen if you adjust the pups. Never mind, i already like your new guitar and I can totally relate to its neck. THat to me is the most important part of the guitar. Sound comes second, because I think there are very many ways to change that to your liking (amp, pedals, etc.)

Hey John, That guitar is awesome! Perfect position 2 quackery. I always keep an eye out for a standard strat with a maple neck to join the rosewood pair. This is a video I watched yesterday and has some cool strat setups .

‘Quack’ refers to the tone quality when playing out of the 2nd position with single coil PUPs. Playing that pick up selection clean on lower output PUPs results in tone resembling a chirping or quacking quality. Mark Knopfler, Steve Gaines are just two of many that come to mind who were able to generate this tone. It is a positive connotation! 😎🦆John

Thing I love the most about this is that the bass line your doing actually sounds more like a bass and then the rhythm chops sound more quacky than a room full of incompetent medical staff.
Just a great groove played perfectly.
I’m sure you and the new edition will have a long happy relationship together.
Loved it.

Congrats on your new Strat: it looks and quacks great 😅! Those old style pickups, they sound really how a real Strat should sound (one day I’ve to decide to change my pickups on my Player with some fat 50s or 60s).
And your playing on this one, those bass lines alternated to rhythm strumming and licks, is just brilliant: great groove, very enjoyable to listen to!Guido
