        Hello Everyone,

After listening to Gene (Scattercreek) and Clay’s surf postings, I thought I would have some fun with Apache. This is just a very straight forward version using a backing track from http://www.guitarbackingtracks.com

Still have a ways to go, especially on the “horse gallop” picking but overall an easy and fun tune to play.

        Jim

Nicely done, Jim. I love those old surf numbers and really enjoyed that. Cool twin SG’s but that P90 black one needs a whammy bar!

            Thanks John.

Yes, a whammy bar would certainly help in recreating those neat sounds generated by the early surf musicians. My feeble bends didn’t quite do the trick. After watching Marty and his Suhr, I may have to add a Suhr with a whammy bar to my Christmas list!

              Jim,
Nice playing. Nothing like a little surf music when it’s 25 outside.

That was really good man, very enjoyable with my early morning cuppa, I am only familiar with the Shadows version played by Hank on his Strat. possibly the first time ever heard played on a SG..
                  Play it again Jim.

Nice playing, and your tone was great for surf.

                      Hey Jim,

Good job. Surf is a lot of fun and you did it justice. I liked that little snippet of Ghost Riders in the Sky at the end. Looking forward to jamming with you tomorrow.

                      Gene

PS as many of you know Jim and I have been jamming once a month for several years. We met on Active Melody. We spend lot of time reassuring that we need more gear. In addition to benefitting from Brian’s teaching AM is a great place to make new friends.

Excellent, Jim. You’ve got that alternate picking down. Perfect guitar setting. Liked the Ghostriders at the end!

                            Hey John and Larry,

Thanks for your kind comments. I had fun with this one. As much as I enjoy learning Brian’s new material, I find myself also wanting to learn “covers” of popular songs.

The more I force myself to use GarageBand and iMovie, the easier it has become. (common sense)

                            Thanks,

                            Jim
