I am trying to mic my acoustic to go into my computer and into reaper. I have an interface but from what i understand the interface needs to have phantom power to accept and use a microphone, which i am pretty sure mine does not have. So i am wondering if anyone has used a USB microphone which would ideally be able to be plughed in and recognized as an input by reaper. I just dont know if that is even possible or if I need a different interface instead. I just want to avoid buying a bunch of wrong equipment that won’t work together, which i have done before. Thanks for any help or suggestions…scott.
Just to clarify. You need phantom power for condenser mics. You could use a dynamic mic like an Shure SM-57. But you would need a gain setting on your interface so you can boost the signal. You would also need an xlr connection on your interface or a 1/4″ to xlr adapter.
I still prefer condense mics for acoustic recording.

Oh yeah thanks for clarifying Bryce, thats what i meant. Its all so confusing to me. So for everyone else (Bryce and I have been discussing this through messages), basically i am trying to find the best way to mic an acoustic for recording in a DAW while using my current interface which is a Behrinher UCG102. Or find a way to do it without having to buy another interface.
