While Bryce was visiting in early September he recorded this rhythm part to Honey Hush, an old Albert Collins tune. I added the solo using a few ideas he gave me. I sure wish Bryce lived around the corner.

Very cool. Now grab that bass guitar and add a good solid bass line. Like this one. And check out where he has his capo….

From what I understand, old Albert used an F minor tuning and then just placed the capo so he could use open strings in the key he was playing. This one’s in C so I think he has the capo at the 7th fret.

Real nice rhythm Bryce laid down for you there, and the lead part went really well with it. Nice collaboration!

Very nice John. You really laid that solo down over Bryce’s rhtymn perfectly. Nice feel with really nice vibrato like Richard mentioned. Your tone setting also fit into the mix like a glove. Well done.

Even though Bryce has stepped down from his Moderator duties he is still inspiring others with that backing, made even better by your collaborated improvised licks John, great stuff.

Hey John, you did a great job with that! That heavy, driving attack sounds like part of your style (on everything except ballads). Your tone matches that nicely.

Totally nailed the Albert Collins feel with that solo John! The little hole the 1 chord trick with vibrato was spot on. We need another jam date in person. Life has been little guitar playing since I got back. Too much Architecting to do. 🙁

When ever I watched him,, Although I admire the power in them solos,,, too me he always felt tense like stung up on steroids..jusst me maybe but i can sleep! lol.. John and Bryce would have to certainly reach long term for his caliber .. saying hearing like it is! And I don’t mean about the jam thing.. I listened prior to active melody and Collins style is too how you say rambunctious ,, his capo and all..I like STANDARD tuning as a beginner so I can follow through,,especially those bends and vibratos,,lol..rather be elsewhere in standard tuning is all i’m saying,, is fun watching both here
