In this lesson, you’ll learn how to play a short and simple lead, while utilizing full and half bends. I’ll also explain how to apply vibrato to a bend, and show you the technique that I use.
This is a great practice exercise for learning the difference between full bends and half bends, and is also great to practice your vibrato skills while bending.

I like these shorter blog post lessons. They are fun!
I agree….they are easier to follow when there isn’t so much to remember lol
Thanks Brian, like them to!
I agree. Keep adding to existing lesson. please keep doing those lessons
Excellent exercise Brian!
Nice lesson…even I have learned something….???
This is fantastic. I was able to learn this quickly. The lick is musical but simple enough to allow me to focus on getting accurate bends and vibrato. I also started improvising over the jam track using your lick as a basis.
Hi Brian
What chords are you using on the backing track?
Am, AmDim7, Dm, Em, Am, Em7
Thanks so Much
I can tell this lesson will definitely open up my playing. Especially my bland scale practice. Thanks Brian
Really like this bite-sized mini lesson. The full lessons are great, but sometimes frustrating when you just don’t feel like you’re getting it. With this brief snippet I feel like I’ve learned something even if I fail on the longer pieces.
This is another example why I think you’re the best online teacher on the Internet.
Thanks much!
I really appreciate this lesson. You get great tone and you inspire me to play better. Thank you for posting this, Brian.
Can’t tell you how much this lesson helped me. Thanks
Wow this is making me feel like I’m getting a bit more soul into what I’m trying to play
This is a terrific exercise, especially since it sounds like real music.
What I find really useful is to do it with a clean sound and wearing headphones, so I have to really try to get the max sustain out of the guitar with no gain assistance and I can also clearly hear any other strings ringing.
This has really been helpful, thanks again Brian!!
Thanks….Brian…Thats awesome!
im good with the string bending, I get nice notes/tones but as im bending, I hear the strings rubbing across my skin and when I release, I am finding the strings I originally pushed up into (D) and (G) ring out……how do I mute them please?
Are there any exercises that teach bending two strings at once or starting with one string bend then gabbing the second string?
