In this MicroLesson (ML103), I’ll explain how using triads can make a huge difference in the way you improvise a melody, and how to combine them with the pentatonic scales.

merry xmas from byron bay australia
Another super simple, super helpful, super easy to understand lesson that I’ll need a month to get under my fingers. But happy to do it cuz the principles and applications are so direct and useful – all over the fret board and in so many genres! Many thanks! Again!
Sweet. I love that you came to this lesson from seeing it help in real time. Nice simple way to break through to sounding like I know a little. Thanks!
Nice lesson and helpful as always and merry christmas to you and your family
I love these micro lessons. Thanks
Very cool Brain,
Thanks.
Hi Brian, thanks for that nice little reminder micro-lesson! Have a great Christmas and look forward to next year with you each week! Max
Cool little lesson! What guitar are you using?
It’s Wide Sky. I want one!
Good to see the Little Sister getting some more love. 🙂
Brian
Another excellent lesson, which enlightens for me a lot. I put down the theory and start making some nice music, which is more than copying the exact notes your playing and making some new ones of “my own”.
Brian,
This lesson fits perfectly with EP546. In this you explained the target tones (3 or b7) of the new chords. ML103 is another good example. Further I see crearly that you use the Pentatonic form 2 with the E-shape and form 5 with the A-shape and form 4 with the C-shape on the different parts of the guitar fretboard (neck).
I whish you and your family a Happy Christmas and a healthy 2024. Looking forward to see your lessons in the next year.
Wil
I though the same thing.
Thanks for another year of great guitar lessons.
great lesson, thank you! 🙂
I really liked the explanations of your thought process
Great demonstration of using triads in 1-4-5! I got a lot of good practical stuff out of this one.
Love these lessons!
How you can find the time to do such a wonderful midweek lesson astounds me- many thanks and a happy Christmas season to you and your family from Kiama. NSW Australia. And of course thanks also for a fantastic year of lessons in 2023.

Great lesson!
M’ha encantat. Un bon resum!!
Bones Festes!!

Merry Christmas all
Thanks for this Christmas present. Right up my alley and many others I’m sure. Nice description of the lesson as well.
I wish you had mentioned which pentatonic you were using in the different positions and whether you were using major or minor forms.
This is the key I was looking for, thanks!
What a great micro!! Thanks Brian and all the best for 2024 to you, your family and everyone here at AM!
I’m kinda crushing on that Wide Sky guitar. I might just have to place an order for one 🙂
Excellent…
Fun on my old Tenor….
LOVE this micro lesson!!!! Thank you for the inspiration and the information! And that guitar is absolutely gorgeous
HaHa. Funny one Brian. Listening to your message some of us were expecting an easy go with the micro lesson which probably goes with. But instead, I find a lesson that combines ALL of my favorite light bulb moments into on lesson/composition: ML103. Thanks for the joke and the great lesson. I will welcome the new format.
Jim Lynn
Another Great lesson!
