Great rhythm lesson….I was wondering if you can show us how to solo over this fast paced progression. I am having trouble getting the right feel…..I’m guessing dotted eight note swing feel but would like some guidance and examples. Would be a great follow up micro lesson since it is a nice backing track. Thanks…..by the way the site you created is superior to most things out there that teach guitar. I am truly amazed at all the detail and teaching tools you supply. A real bargain price for annual membership !

Hey Paul, check back on Friday as I’m going to have a full Rockabilly lesson – that will have a lead part. You’ll be able to use that lead over this rhythm.

Seriously….who’s better than you. I really look forward to Fridays and your new lesson of the week! It keeps things fresh and keeps me out of a rut which most players fall into now and then. Thanks again and this is truly the best bargain out there for learning guitar. You are not only a skilled player, but have laid out every possible tool needed to improve one’s playing. Paul

Sorry for asking what may be a silly question but how are you muting the strings there? Using your left hand to momentarily dampen the strings?

Or dampening the strings with your right hand?

Dampening with the left hand. The right hand just stays in motion the whole time.

I’m having a tough time with this one, which is always a good thing as it exposes things (rhythm) that I need to work on. I tend to practice easier stuff, well, because it is easier. Trying to break that habit.

I agree with the tough time. I thought it looked dead easy but I have always damped with my right hand never myleft one so it is taking a bit of gettng used to.

I am struggling with the dampening of the strings. If you create any future sessions similar to this one, will you please devote more time to the dampening technique – left hand positions. I am a new member and unfortunately do not have much time to practice but I very much enjoy your teaching style. Great work!

Hi, Great site, Very glad I joined! Question about this. Why end on two upstrokes (E & C#) Can you do an up and a down or does that throw the timing off? I cant really tell at this point because my rhythm is forced (well not forced, but I am really having to pay a lot of attention to it)…. Thanks
