Silent Night Guitar Lesson – EP128

Description

In this guitar lesson, you’ll learn how to play the classic Christmas melody, Silent Night. You’ll learn this in the solo guitar style (no accompaniment) and will play it with a pick (although you could play this fingerstyle if you were more comfortable). This is an easy arrangement and can be played by anyone from beginner to advanced on either electric or acoustic guitar.

I really like the solo electric stuff. It seems like for years, someone would say “so you play guitar….show me something”, and I never know what to play. This stuff solves all those times. Thanks for that! Cant wait to get this down on the weekend.

A touch of Chet Atkins Brian. A really clever rendition, which I’m certain will impress my family at Christmas. Many thanks.

Great stuff! This was the first thing I checked out (seasonal and all) after subscribing, and noticed there’s a slight error in the second half of the second bar. I assume the tab is just meant to be a rough guide? 🙂

Brian, you turned a timely holiday piece into a great lessson on chord voicings and finding the melody around chords. Love the countrified embellishments. I find new things to add to my bag of tricks every week. Great lesson as usual.

A truly beautiful rendition of this carol, Brian. I am still persevering with pieces from some of your previous lessons, but as soon as I listened to this week’s,, I felt I just had to put the other stuff to one side, pick up my guitar, and try to master this, firstly on my acoustic , before plugging in my Strat . Thanks Brian a really great idea for a lesson at this time of year. Best wishes.

I live here in Austria where the song ‘Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht’ (so the original title) was composed by schoolmaster and organist Franz Xaver Gruber and Father Joseph Mohr for Christmas Eve in 1818. Moreover https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Night
Congrats to Brian for his interpretation.

Really enjoyed learning this, I started using the electric but moved onto the accoustic with a little reverb and a tiny touch of tremolo and the sound of those chords are awesome.
Brilliant version and one I will play regularly.
    Many Thanks 🙂

Hi Brian, I really do enjoy listening to you, I have learned so much and I do appreciate what you do. Would you work up a Christmas song for us? I have been wanting to play O Holy Night so whatever you can come up with would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great work. Mike M

Love this rendition. Have been working on it for over a week now and am getting it all done but still in slow mode. Just been playing little more than a year now and have learned so much from you. Love your finger by finger instructions. Still don’t understand all the scales, I just follow your instructions and play. Would love to learn Oh Holy Night….hint..hint. Thank you for your dedication to all of us. Merry Christmas Brian!!

Truly one of the most beautiful and appreciated lessons, Brian, BUT—- could you please re-do it without the cheesy pedal effects? A pure tone with a tiny bit of reverb would sound so much better—–

    Brian,

Another great bluesy version of a Christmas carol. One quick question, in the tabs, for the A chord then you hammer on, you have written 4 fret in the 4th string, but when you play it and talk about it, its 4th fret 3rd string. I hope Ive got that right
