Jingle Bells – Acoustic blues version – Solo Composition – Guitar Lesson EP389

Description

In this week’s guitar lesson, you’ll learn how to play a solo version of Jingle Bells on acoustic guitar over a blues shuffle. In addition to learning how to play it note for note, I’ll break down the arrangement and explain my thought process so that you can implement these techniques and create your own arrangements of songs.

Yes, it is a super arrangement with only one little bending .I will add some more, because I improved the technic during the last 2 lessons and -this is the way my brain thinks-.This sentence of yours makes me more courageous. But now and then my brain needs some good advices. And yours are always helpful.

What a fabulous teaching idea – some really great, but fairly straight forward blues licks which I would never have gone to in the context of this simple song. They absolutely transform the musical feel.

As Ian C says, it is a great idea to take a well known tune and develop it in this way, without the need for a backing track. I hope we get more like this!

Thanks. A few great takeaways (as usual). It’s funny because I wouldn’t normally be interested in a Christmas song. But I work through it anyway because I absolutely know there will be loads of takeaways and as usual I’m not disappointed. I really like the arrangement too so actually enjoyed the song too.

Great arrangement. However, tab does not seem to match. Is this an old one? Also, its hard for me to see what you are doing with your ring finger on the first shuffle. Are you just deadening strings or playing a note with it?

Not sure if this problem is coming from your end or mine. Whenever I try to print the tablature pdf , as soon as I go PRINT, the sheet reduces by half and I can’t get the entire thing. – rather annoying. Is anyone else having this issue?

What is the tempo for this full speed? The PDF says 80, but that seems to be the walkthrough speed. I tapped it and it’s comes about to about 142, but seems to speed up a little later.

Hi Brian great rendition of this Xmas classic ! I do however have a challenge , in the second verse where you have the chord run of triads starting from A at the 5th the G then A6 the yu call the next chord A9 ?? surely this is a G6 , i understand that you have a B note (which in the context of A would be the 9th degree) and a E note (perfect 5) however playing the G note would make this a flattenned 7 note, so I cannot really see how you can look at this chord as a derivative of A , be great to get your view on this.

Well that was great fun to learn Brian, I don’t know how other students feel about it but personally I would love to see some more lesons in tha similar vein where you take a well known song and jazz it up with a bluesy arrangement that encourages improvisation around a melody.

However, I can only hope that in a number of years I will actually be able to arrange and create stuff like
this. I don’t know where and how you come up with this stuff but it’s awesome, you are truly gifted
to be able to do that
