Description
In this jazzy / blues guitar lesson you’ll learn how to play an up-tempo, poppy sounding rhythm the first time through. The second time through you’ll be changing scales to match the chords while playing lead, giving you a more sophisticated sounding lead. You’ll also learn how to play double stops (2 notes that are harmonized) on both the 1 and 2 strings, and the 1 and 3 strings.

Thx Brian.
Happy New Year Brian. I love the lesson and actually felt a tickle inside listening to it. I can’t wait to learn this one!
I am biased towards the lessons with the red guitar.. 🙂 Thanks Brian!
Great lesson, I’m having a blast learning this one. Thanks Brian
Brian, have to admire your ‘ stick to it iveness ‘ – churning out these lessons even on holidays! As Music-AMG says I think I am biased to this red guitar also……Happy New Year!
Very good lesson,Brian!!
Could you make one with arpegyo licks combined with these scales?
Thanks.
Great way to start the new year! That Freddie King chord is killing my timing… haha
Happy New Year Brian! I love this one and I think it’s the best one you’ve done, and you’ve done a lot of great ones! Thanks and I’m I looking forward to breaking my red guitar out to learn it!
Happy New Year 2016 Brian. …
Great lesson as usual. thank you!
Purely froma “listen to it” standpoint this is one of the best lessons you’ve come up with.I love it and really hope I can get somewhere near playing it as well as you do.
This is my favorite lessons site. Hope your holidays were great…. Your a God, Can’t keep up with you. Still working on the major, minor, pentatonic lesson. A lot to comprehend there. could play with this for a long time. My favorite lesson. A lot of information there. Thanks for that lesson. Wish you and your family all the best.
Sounds like something from Chet Atkins , looks fun! ill try learning it on a stardard les paul (don’t own a 335)
keep on raising the bar 🙂 Lot’s to chew on each lesson. how you use various licks in different settings. Thank you…. I’m also biased to the red guitar. I enjoy your enjoyment in sharing these lessons. Wishing you and all a Happy 2016. In many ways it’s all about how we play it! Life is a Gig worth Playing each time.
G/day Brian,
Hearing a bit of “Chet” in this, mate. Great work! Thank you.
Michael J.
Love this “Chet” Style ! – Happy New Year to all of you from Switzerland!
Another good ‘un. Thanks Brian. Happy & prosperous 3016.
happy 2016 also!
Thanks for the lesson! I’m having trouble casting part 2 and the slow walk thru lesson. These lessons are even better on a big screen TV
Brian, I really like the lessons that are inclusive of every thing ie ( rythum and lead ) all together as most of the time I play alone without accompaniment. Yours is the only site I go to regulary, keep up the good work, and thanks for your efforts.
sounds fun!!
sound like another favorite Chet Atkin added to my collection
Just joined up and looking forward to learning some good picking. Been playing for a long time and im always open to learn something new .
Very nice piece Brian… Its like listening to Chet Atkins by the way… Love it…
Another cracker Brian. Even though it is short and sweet, there’s still enough going on to keep me busy for a good while.
Hi Brian, You mentioned your strumming. on the Gibson es335 sounded a little distorted. This surprised. me because once before you said you were using a Fender Twin Riverb. Did you upgrade the pickups and if so with what? Thanks for all the great lessons.
I still use a Fender Twin Reverb – honestly I can’t remember why it was breaking up – probably something weird I did with the camera.
Thanks Brian! What a really fun piece. You know you’re getting better when your wife asks “was that you playing last night” 🙂
BTW: There’s a small mistake in measure 25. The E played on the & of 2 should be an A.
