Description
I’ve had a lot of requests for gospel recently, and even a specific request for this song so I thought this would be a good one to do in a way that both beginner and intermediate players could enjoy (never excluding advanced players of course). This is my own arrangement of this song and it’s obviously pretty straight forward, however, if you wanted to spice this up a bit it would be easy to do. One obvious place for that would be when it goes to the “G” part, to throw in some bluesy licks in the key of G (I thought about adding those originally but pulled them out because I thought it might be too complicated). Anyway, I hope some of you out there enjoy this arrangement and I hope if gives you ideas on how you could arrange your own songs.

Brian,
Thank you for doing this. I really enjoy any kind of finger style. Your version is very pretty and full sounding. I have been trying to get down Frieght Train by Elizabeth Cotten, and it has been giving me fits. This is a great song to learn finger style. This is such a nice version you did I wouldn’t want to add any blusey licks. Sweet guitar you got there. Brian, I hope in the future you do more tunes like this.
Thanks…………fresnojohns
Hi brian, your tab link doesn’t work for me, I just get directed to the jazz tab, any ideas?
Hi Brian I just want to say I love gospel guitar too, thank you for Amazing Grace
Hi Brian, My link too, doesn’t work. Takes me to Jazz tab
I appreciate you putting this on here. Hopefully with the tablature, I can figure the notes out. Thanks so much for putting helpful stuff on the site. Do you do any flat picking videos?
I’ve corrected the label on the tab download link now - it was downloading the correct tab but was incorrectly labeled. Sorry about that guys and thanks for pointing it out !
@webtrax - most of the videos on this site are played with a pick… just a few that are finger style
Lovely rendition Brian.. I initially signed up for my 13 yr old son but I have really enjoyed all of the lessons myself. Seasons Greeting’s All
Thanks Tom! Seasons Greetings to you and your son!

peter.
@Guitar-Bandit - yes you could definitely play this on an electric or classical guitar.. this would work with any guitar
cheers for the quick responce Brian.
Thank you Brian. I have small hands and short fingers. My brain gets it quicker than my fingers. Can you recommend a good acoustic guitar for a small handed female player wannabe? Right now I am playing an Ibanez AEL-20E. It may be that the guitar is fine and the piece is over my head for now. Do I need some exercises for my fingers? Thanx for any help you can give me.
Hey Bflatdrummer - check out the new lesson that I just posted regarding a good acoustic guitar that I’d recommend. It would be the perfect guitar for small hands and short fingers. Just watch the first part of the video and I explain what the guitar is, how much it costs, etc. Here’s a link: Acoustic Blues Guitar Lesson
Hi Brian,
I am trying to download the tab for this lesson and the link goes to a blank window with the title:
“Download Assets for this lesson Close [X]”
but don’t shows any option.
it is just blank
many thanks
best wishes
Jose Manole dos Santos Fevereiro
Neither of the download links work for me!!!!
Hey guys, this has been fixed. My apologies! You can now download this tab.
Hey Brian. Yet another great lesson. I really do like the way you teach these lessons. You are always very clear and easy to understand. I have noticed something though that I would like to make a suggestion on…would it be possible on the tablature to list the name of the chord above the bar staff? Especially on this finger style stuff…to me it would be helpful to follow along with the tabs….It is possible that I’m the only person that has this issue…if that is the case, then feel free to disregard this suggestion all together… :o)
Anyway, great job on the lessons…I always look forward to visiting this website.
Thank you Brian, The Gibson You got is a jewel, tell me the story how you get it, it will be great to hear it.Thank You again.
Hey Brian, I found your sight by the grace of god and just became a member and love it. I was curious if you could do or do you have lessons for HOTEL CALIFORNIA, STAIRWAY TO HEVAN, or I BELIEVE ON YOU by Don williams
The type of music you used to introduced this video, I like it. How about doing something on it
Brian thank you for this lesson. You explain everything so well.I love fingerstyle and I enjoy it although I find it difficult. However I will get there eventually with your expert tuition.
G Enthusiast.
For those beginners who can’t play the full F major chord or those with poor action guitars, what alternative chords can replace the F major part when learning the EP007: How To Play Amazing Grace on Guitar - Lesson? Any suggestions or comments?
Hi
I learn a lot from your lessons and thanks for that but the question i have for this video is WHAT model is that amazing Gibson????
Thanks Brian,
Can’t believe it took me this long to find this on your site. Nice arrangement. Love playing Gospel guitar pieces.
Dave
Hi
The tab docent match the way you play it
Can you help me
Would appreciate the tab for Amazing Grace . This is small I require at this stage of my playing.
Appreciate your help,
Best regards,
James,
Can you tell me the download link for the tablature of this song? thanks! 🙂
The link is on the top right of the screen. Must be a premium member to download.
I have spent a lot of time practicing this piece. Why no revisit it and add the video tab and provide a slow version to practice against.
You have some nuances in your play that are not in the tab.
I think many of your students would appreciate it.
Thanks
Fab lessons! Just that the tab is missing some notes! Would be nice to have the videotab for this lesson!
great lesson ! i’t would be nice add a video tab for this …some notes are not in the tab!
thanks Brian!
Fantastic lesson, adding missing and some own notes it is so hard.
not hard. I mean 🙂
Thanks for the nice lesson. What chord could i use instead of the F chord?
