Driving Electric Blues Rhythm in E: EP021

Description

This guitar lesson was created to demonstrate a driving electric rhythm in the key of E. Even though I demonstrate this on electric guitar, this could easily be played on an acoustic as well. This rhythm has elements of something you might hear John Lee Hooker and Lightin’ Hopkins play. I realized after watching the final version of this video that the intro was played much faster than the version I play when I break it down, but I figured that it was good to leave it as is, so that you can see how this would sound at a fast tempo, and at a slower tempo. It sounds great either way.

Very cool. Thank you, Brian. Would be great to have some grittier, minor sounding dirty blues rhythms as well in future lessons—if that’s your thing, of course.

Thanks for another great lesson Brian! And in my opinion, a great word to use instead of “interesting” would be “groovy”!

Every time I try to access this lesson, it starts up 10 minutes into the lesson. A big chunk of this got cut off. Can you fix this please? Thanks so much.

As always Brian, great lesson.  I’ve found with this lesson and many of your other one it helps me to get a drum or click track that I can vary the tempo. I can then learn the fingering and patterns at a slower tempo. Once I have it down I start cranking up the speed.  Again thanks for laying this out, it is another, more interesting way of playing a shuffle.

There is no sound on Driving Electric Blues Rhythm in Key of E:  EP021.  Is there a jam track that goes with this lesson?  I don’t see one.

    Thanks

Just what I was looking for to get some basic E Blues skills for jam sessions. Also works nicely up the neck with triads. It just shows the quality of your content that these older lessons still ring the bells. Thanks
