Description
I wanted to take some old delta blues style licks and modernize them by playing them in more of a Chicago style electric blues (with a full band). You’ll hear some Son House and Robert Johnson influence in this. The first half focuses on rhythm and the second half focuses on lead (all in the E minor pentatonic scale). Make sure to download the MP3 jam track to practice your timing (especially for the lead part).

Very nice lesson, Brian. Always like the Delta Blues. Going to try this fingerstyle.

Brian: Add some cool vocals and a couple of female back up singers perhaps a horn section and……think about this……….you really have something here! Love the ‘shuffle rhythm’ change over too………..
Also………..again just to top off the tune……..some wicked slide guitar would be a blast on this recording……..the Farfisa/Leslie speaker sounding organ is killer though………..

Hey Brian,
Great tune here. I’ve enjoyed learning it. The third bar of A has thrown me for a loop, though. Is the first section 13 bars? Peter

It’s great to have a lesson that’s tough but still do-able. I’ve learned more here in a short period of time than I’ve learned in a long time. I hope you’re around for a long time. Me and your other students need your teaching.

Brian - this is awesome. But when I downloaded the tab I am not seeing the 4th string upstroke and 6th string at 3rd fret when you get to the A7 part. I may be missing something. I am following along with the videos though and you do a great job explaining.

Oh 2 be a premium member. I’m supposing that a month would get me most of the back ground tracks but is it worth it. I do so enjoy the techniques shown and appreciate them available to the general population as they are most enlightening ….

Brian this had got me working hard its a great sound. I think the tab is adrift with the 0- 4 fret on the 6 th string bar 4 and on at leadt with the slow play back as that is what I aspire to at the moment.
Brian says
@JohnStrat - Thanks for catching the error in the tab. I’ve corrected this now.. should have been 3rd fret not 4th!
