David Gilmour Guitar Lesson (Pink Floyd) – EP105

Description

David Gilmour (guitar player and vocalist for Pink Floyd) is one of my all-time favorite guitar players and I’m actually surprised it’s taken me this long to put together a lesson showcasing his style. One of the reasons it’s taken me so long is because he has SO much depth, it’s actually overwhelming to try and boil things down to a single lesson. I suppose I’ll just have to do others. In this lesson you’ll learn how to play a David Gilmour style lead in the key of C, using the C major scale.

Thanks Brian.  That was superb and definitely one of those lessons that left me feeling I’d made a quantum leap forwards in my abilities as a player.

If anyone’s feeling like they might want to be a bit adventurous and jam with the man himself, try looking up Pink Floyd’s Coming Back to Life on YouTube.

It has a few extra chords bu the rhythm part is quite easy.  All the stuff in Brian’s lesson fits in here.

OK.  1.15pm here in the UK and I’ve been doing this for 5 1/2 hours.  Probably ought to think about breakfast. :-)

The new set up is fun too. I can go straight to the slow walk through, find all that I can do by myself then come back and lissen, with my tail tucked between my legs, : ) and lissen to the Teacher ( that would be YOU.)

Really enjoyed this lesson Brian.  It forced me to experiment with my delay pedal more since I normally only use it for slapback.  More Gilmore would be good.

A suggestion: I think it would be helpful, especially for beginners, if you sometimes referred to the strings by their note name rather than “the one string”.  You could mix it into the lessons.  Everyone needs to learn the notes at some point, not just patterns and boxes.
