Blues Slide Guitar Lesson in Open G Tuning – EP236

Description

In this week’s guitar lesson, you’ll learn some basic blues slide guitar techniques for electric guitar (although these could easily be played on acoustic as well). I will also show you a quick way to get into open G tuning and show you several slide licks that you can use in that tuning. This is a stand-alone composition, no jam track required.

I’ve got a resonator I keep tuned to open g and I think this will sound really cool on that. Unfortunately it’s in the uk on the other side of the planet from me at the moment! So, it may need to wait till we’re reunited.
But thanks for another year of excellent lessons Brian. I’ve learnt loads, forgotten some but had lots of fun. Merry Xmas to you all

    Great Lesson Brian
Although I don’t have a guitar slide yet, I still enjoyed the lesson, noddled around finger picking through the lesson and learned a lot from this G tuning. Looking forward to more G tuning lessons
    Thanks

I play a lot of delta blues slide and I’ve had to go to other YouTube lessons 4 instruction. I’ve been hoping you would post something in this style and as usual your lessons are spot-on. Not overly simplified and challenging enough to keep even a person with some experience in slide playing quite busy. Thanks a bunch Brian and I hope there’s more to come in the future

I love this lesson,it`s the main reason i joined, But I just can`t figure out why when i play this,it`s not sounding no where near as good, are you plucking the strings with the end of your fingers and killing it before the tone rings through??

    Hi Brian.
Thank you for this wonderful slide lesson.
Is hitting exactly what I love about the slide guitar.

I am beginning to play the slide more and more now.

Brian, do you think you could, one day, add a lesson about slide rhythm playing?
Rhythm playing in an open tuning, includung specially the minor chords.
The chord A, or G major etc is fairly easy to play but I would love to learn how to play minor chords too.
    Is just an idea….
Thank you, you are a wonderful guitar teacher!
    Cheers from Thomas, Germany

A small tip for those using this as their 1st ever slide lesson (like me). I couldn’t figure out how to minimize buzz from other strings around me, but found that if I trail my ring and middle finger behind the slide, it cuts down on the buzz. Might be old hat, but I had no idea.
