Acoustic Blues Guitar Lesson in G – No Accompaniment (With a pick) – EP104

Description

In this blues guitar lesson, you’ll learn how to play a solo blues arrangement in the key of G (played with no accompaniment). I’m also playing this with a pick (so no fingerstyle required for this one). I do use a hybrid picking technique in a few spots, but they’re fairly straight-forward and should be easy to pick up.

Looks challenging to me, but I love these songs where you need nothing but a pick and a guitar.

I really like this. The key of G is new, or fairly new, for an acoustic blues lesson isn’t it? Could this be an angle to explore in future unaccompanied lessons, i.e. moving gradually towards more unfamiliar or challenging keys?

Love this one Brian!  Hybrid picking is less challenging than finger style for me

Great lesson… a lot of fun too play and improvise with… I was having a hard time hitting that C7 after the C9.. so I switched to a C13..seems to work.  This arrangement flows very naturally.

Very fun little ditty. More turnarounds for my personal bag-o-licks, thanks! As mentioned above, additional acoustic blues with no accompaniment lessons would be great.

@Rudai123, this week’s lesson didn’t have a jam track.  That was the point πŸ™‚ You don’t need one… for this type of lesson.

Brian, I skipped this one last week due to time…and just went back, wow soooooo many recognizable licks and turnarounds to use everywhere…..I was so proud that I knew the dim and 9 chords were coming in that section……

Thank you doesn’t cut it any more…..

    Robert

    Hi Brian,

Is there a way to print the tab as well as the notation? I’m sorry, but I don’t read notation!
    Great site BTW!
    Thanks,
    Richard

I signed up a few weeks ago and man have I learned a lot. Brians style of teaching just clicks with me (thanks Brian).  Best seven bucks a month I’ve ever spent. These “just a pick and a guitair”  are my favorites.

GREAT lesson, Brian.  I prefer the lessons that don’t require anything but an acoustic guitar and a pick.

I ‘m not understanding the minor penatonic patterns. I get the major patterns and I’m working on the licks . Could you direct me to a lesson that will make this connection?

    Hi Brian ,

Having contacted you recently via Facebook for a sample of your paid lessons I joined and very pleased I did.Your lessons are so well explained and varied enough to suit most people.

There is so much here to have a go at both finger style and with pick that I will be dead before I have tried a quarter of it :).

Although this particular sound/lesson is not so much to my taste it doesn’t matter as it is always good to hear styles and sounds that stretch our imagination.

    Keep up your good work.
